One fine day, a car like the Lada Kalina fell into my hands. And then this comparison appeared, purely mine, but maybe it will help some of the doubters who have not yet decided on the choice of their future car, between the 2110 or Kalina families. So we have a VAZ-2112 (2007 onwards) and a Lada Kalina hatchback (2008 onwards). Between them, I will try to describe the difference that is present in these cars.
Design... The exterior is to each his own, personally, my soul lies closer to the 2112. I like the interior of the 2112 better, to some extent a classic, which is worth the console turned towards the driver, and the top plastic on the panel is of better quality. And somehow more comfortable, as if I had never left the house. And the viburnum inside is like a toy, just rounded shapes or, as they say, biodesign...

But the comfort of the seats is a subjective matter, but there is no colossal difference, it all depends on preferences, the 2112’s seats are a little softer and the Kalina’s are harder. Here the rear passengers in Kalina will feel a significant difference; there is more space between the knees and seats and, most importantly, in the shoulders and heads. If the passengers are tall, then the central pillars piled up inside in the 2112 greatly interfere with the comfort of the passengers’ heads, otherwise you’ll hit them. There is no point in comparing luggage racks at all.
Control and handling... Here there is one peculiarity, the first car has power steering and the second one has power steering, and here lies, in my understanding, a rather significant difference. Controlling the power steering is more convenient, in the sense that it always works with constant effort and clarity on the steering wheel, to the extent possible, of course, and over the entire speed range. The zero is clear and the power steering keeps the wheel-steering wheel connection at a stable level, the control is of course weak and you need to start the maneuver in advance.
