A lot has been written about Grant, but there is little information about its “semi-sports” version of Drive Active from Super Auto, at least I collected it bit by bit before purchasing it. I think many will be interested in a review from a simple, unbiased owner, not from the press. A little background so that my general point of view on cars and my attitude towards them is clear.

I always strive to buy a new car. Let it be the cheapest representative of the VAZ family but new. This is due to the fact that I myself am more or less versed in mechanics, electrics, engines, chassis, etc. I’m not a great specialist, but I’m not a layman either, I know what I’m talking about. So, I would never buy a 10-15 year old German, much less buy a new Chinese one.

At the age of about 7 years, depending on the mileage, of course, the inevitable aging of the car begins, this is actually complete wear and tear, and only if you are ready to do major repairs, like how airplanes are repaired by simply constantly replacing all components with new ones, then God help you , you can buy an old car and make a new one out of it.

The downside is that the money will be spent, but it will not cost like new. Therefore, my opinion is that it’s better to drive the new one for 4 years, sell it while it’s worth something and buy a new one again. This is the tactic I stick to. If someone thinks that if a car is foreign-made, it will last much longer without malfunctions, alas, this is not the case.

Everything breaks, including Mercedes. Of course, on VAZ cars there can be a lot of manufacturing defects, initial defects in parts, which happens much less often with foreign cars, but nevertheless, everything breaks, and the old ones even more so.

I feel much calmer knowing that the engine (and not only) has been well maintained since new, has been operated correctly, serviced on time, no one has damaged it or driven it with leaked oil, this is very important to me. It is clear that if a car has had three owners and is ten years old, then it is hardly possible to confidently say that it has always been well maintained.

Therefore, it’s new and only new, even if it’s the cheapest. But this may be my personal quirk; most people take it more calmly. Closer to the topic. Before this, I had a VAZ classic and a 2115 from scratch, and we will mainly compare them with them, since Granta came to replace these models, and at the same time we will compare them with the budget segment of foreign cars, which we had the opportunity to drive several times.

Active Drive, like Granta sport, is the brainchild of Super Auto LLC, a company separate from AvtoVAZ, which takes an ordinary production car and modifies it. Active Drive is a semi-sport type, a car equipped with a conventional engine 21127 106 liters. With. but at the same time decorated with a “sport” body kit. Of the Sport and Active Drive versions, I deliberately chose Active Drive because I wanted a regular production engine with standard camshafts, since it is better suited to urban everyday driving.

Because “Super Auto”, by changing only the bumpers on the exterior and installing a spoiler, was able to give the car a completely different look, why AvtoVAZ can’t do this... I don’t know.
