UAZ Patriot starter relay where is it located?

Purpose

On the UAZ Patriot, the fuses are designed in such a way that if an overload occurs, a special fuse inside them burns out. Because of this, the circuit opens, but the wiring and all Patriot consumers remain safe. If the fuse blows, then you lose access to a certain car option (the heater will stop working, for example). Without them, the entire electrical system of the UAZ Patriot will be at risk.

In addition, the presence of fuses in the UAZ Patriot allows you to divide the vehicle’s electrical circuits into power and control circuits. Also, inside the Patriot’s fuse box there are relays that close or open sections of the UAZ’s electrical circuit. Therefore, if something breaks on your UAZ Patriot, the first thing you need to do is check the serviceability of the corresponding fuse or relay.

Salon block

On the UAZ Patriot, as mentioned earlier, one of the fuse blocks is located right in the cabin - on the left side, near the driver’s knee. To access it you need to unscrew the screw securing the plastic cover. This is the main unit in which electrical fuses are located, responsible for the headlights, operation of the cigarette lighter, heater, and window lifts.

For a UAZ Patriot car, in order to have a good understanding of the purpose of a particular fuse, diagrams are given below. The relays are also numbered; the table gives their decoding. At the UAZ Patirot, the plant, starting from the first years of production, repeatedly conducted experiments, after which the appearance of the mounting block and the location of the fuses in it changed radically.

Until 2007

From the very first years of production until 2007, the old model unit was integrated into the UAZ Patriot - from the VAZ 2110.

Until 2011

Then, for the Patriot, the previous one was replaced by another mounting block with fuses, in which the purpose and location of these elements changed.

After 2011

Fuse blocks for UAZ Patriot after 2011 production, including 2012 and 2013, received a completely new arrangement of internal elements.

The electrical equipment of UAZ-3163 Patriot cars is made mainly according to a single-wire circuit. The negative consumer outputs are connected to the car body and engine, which serve as the second wire. The rated voltage in the vehicle's on-board network is 12 volts. Electrical circuit diagrams for the UAZ-3163 Patriot of different years of production are presented below.

The exterior lighting and fog light switches and the heater fan operating mode switch are located on the console under the instrument panel. The headlight, turn signal, windshield wiper and washer switches are combined into a block of steering column switches. High power electrical consumers are switched on via electromagnetic relays.

The electrical circuits of the engine control system are made according to a multi-wire circuit and are connected to the vehicle ground only through the electronic control unit. To switch the main circuits of the car, a combined ignition switch is used, consisting of a contact part and a mechanical anti-theft device with a lock.

The UAZ-3163 Patriot electrical circuits have the following wire color designations:

B - white; G - blue; F - yellow; Z - green; K - red; Kch - brown; O - orange; P - pink; C - gray; F - purple; Ch - black; SB - gray with white stripe; SK - gray with a red stripe; SG - gray with a blue stripe; GK - blue with a red stripe; KchB - brown with a white stripe; OG - orange with a white stripe; BG - white with a blue stripe; ZZh - green with a yellow stripe; ZK - green with a red stripe; ZCh - green with a black stripe; RG - pink with a blue stripe; RF - pink with black stripe; FB - purple with a white stripe.

Features of operating electrical equipment UAZ Patriot

— Any work on electrical equipment should only be carried out with the battery disconnected. — The battery can only be disconnected or connected when the ignition is turned off.

— When checking electrical equipment circuits, it is forbidden to short the wires to ground or check the serviceability of the circuits “for a spark,” as this can lead to failure of the electrical equipment elements.

— It is prohibited to use fuses not provided for by the design of the vehicle or designed for a higher current, and wire instead of fuses.

— When replacing fuses, do not use metal tools, as this may lead to a short circuit in the electrical circuits.

— It is prohibited to disconnect the battery while the engine is running to avoid damage to the voltage regulator and elements of the electronic engine control system.

— To prevent failure of the diodes of the generator rectifier unit, it is prohibited to check them on a car with a megger or test lamp, with a supply voltage of more than 12 Volts, without disconnecting the wires from the generator.

— You can check the insulation resistance of the generator stator winding with increased voltage only on the generator removed from the car, with the stator winding terminals disconnected from the rectifier unit.

— When carrying out electric welding work directly on the car, it is necessary to disconnect the wires from the battery terminals, generator terminals and engine control unit. — It is not advisable to lay low-voltage wires in the same bundle with high-voltage wires.

— When recharging the battery using a separate remote charger directly on the car, be sure to disconnect the wires from both terminals of the battery.

Additional block under the hood

But, on the UAZ Patriot, the matter is not complete with one fuse block; under the hood there is a second one - an additional mounting block with other, no less important electrical fuses and relays responsible for such components as: starter, fuel pump, ABS, and other systems. The currents here are higher, there is even an 80 A fuse! Thus, if suddenly the electric cooling fan on your UAZ Patriot suddenly fails, the first thing you should do is check the corresponding fuse inside the unit, which is located in the engine compartment.

The mounting block under the hood can be of two types: old type, new type. Just like the interior fuse blocks, they differ in the location of the elements, as well as in other aspects.

Some relays and electrical fuses may be missing inside the mounting block, this depends on the vehicle’s equipment, as well as its year of manufacture.

In addition to this unit, under the hood - on the opposite side - there can be another one - an additional one, which ensures the operation of the air conditioner. If the UAZ Patriot has a diesel engine, then a relay and a fuse for special diesel glow plugs are installed in this place. A diesel engine needs such spark plugs only for starting in winter.

Elements such as UAZ Patriot fuses are an important component of the vehicle's electrical system. Without their normal functioning, the operation of electrical appliances (including the equipment necessary for driving a car) would be associated with a number of troubles. Thus, every car owner should be able to find the fuse box under the hood of the UAZ Patriot, as well as understand the device diagram .

Auto-assistance

On UAZ vehicles, the electrical circuit of the turn signals includes: a steering switch, a turn signal relay, six light bulbs and an alarm button. Two fuses protect this electrical circuit from overloads: a ten-amp F8 (works for the hazard warning lights) and a seven-and-a-half-amp F20 ( works for direction indicators). Their location is the mounting block.

The hazard warning button is included in the circuit because it is through its block that voltage is supplied from the fuses to the turn relay. If for some reason this block was disconnected and then forgotten to be put back in place, then the direction indicators will not work. The same thing will happen when, due to careless installation of the block, it was not placed tightly enough, as a result of which the contacts did not close.

The direction indicators will not work if fuse F20 (7.5A) blows. You can check this assumption without even opening the mounting block. You just need to turn on the alarm and if it works, then our assumption is correct, because the power goes to it through fuse F8, not F20, and the relay, due to the operation of which the lights begin to blink, is the same for them.

The culprit for the failure of the turn signals to work may also be the mounting block , provided that fuse F20 is not blown, and to identify this you need to use a tester to check whether there is a + at the input and output of this fuse. If it turns out that there is + at the input, but not at the output, then you will have to look for a fault in the mounting block.

The direction indicators also do not want to work when the nuts securing the lights to the car body are loosened, since in this case the contact with the “ground” is broken. The same thing can happen if the lamp contacts are dirty.

Without a working turn signal relay , the lamps will not blink, and the malfunction of this relay can be determined by ear, so in this case, when you turn on the turn signals, you will not hear clicks of its operation. When purchasing a new relay, be sure to compare the designations on the terminals with the one you had, since the turn signal relays on different models of this car may differ from each other.

Well, the easiest malfunction that any driver can easily find and fix is the burnout of one of the direction indicator lamps. The driver is informed about this malfunction by the instrument panel, on which the indicator lamp will light up without blinking.

What are they needed for

As in any other vehicle, the UAZ Patriot fuse box is designed to extend the life of the vehicle's electrical system . All main electrical circuits are protected by low melting point fuses. This allows:

  • divide the circuits into two groups (control and power);
  • prevent overloading of electrical wiring.

As a result, the correct operation of UAZ Patriot fuses will allow you to avoid serious problems with electrical equipment in the event of surges in the system. If the voltage increases, the fuse will blow, so you will not have access to just one specific option. Otherwise, the entire electrical system would be at risk.

When to change fuses

As a rule, most car owners wonder where the UAZ Patriot fuse box is located under the hood only if the element fails. The main symptom of a breakdown is the lack of response of certain electrical equipment of the vehicle.

As a rule, it is worth looking for the cause of the malfunction of all devices from the fuse box.

Where to look for a node

It should be noted that in order to find the main fuse block on the UAZ Patriot, you do not need to go under the hood . In a domestic SUV, the device is located inside the cabin, next to the driver’s left knee.

There you will see a cover behind which the element is located. Removing the cover is quite easy - you just need to turn the lock to the side.

There is also one more mounting block. It is located under the hood, on the left side of the mudguards. The lid here opens in the same way as in the interior unit.

And if you have any questions, ask them in the comments.

The layout of the UAZ Patriot is the most unstable of all domestic cars. The manufacturer actively uses its right to make changes to the design. This also applies to the fuse box. Initially, the fuse block of the UAZ Patriot was borrowed from the VAZ-2110. Another fuse strip was also added to this block. They were installed until about 2007. Subsequently, they began to install units of their own design, radically different from VAZ ones. There are two such sides. One was installed before 2011, and the second after.

All these changes affect the fuse box inside the car. On the Patriot, another unit is installed, which is installed under the hood in the engine compartment on the left mudguard extension under the cover. When you remove the cover on its inner part, you can find a description and purpose of the relays and fuses located in the block.

On cars equipped with air conditioning, under the hood on the right fender, there is also another relay and fuse box for air conditioning control located under the cover. On cars with a diesel engine, a relay and a fuse are also installed on the glow plugs.

When replacing fuses, use only high-quality fuses, otherwise the fuse box may become unusable or cause a fire. How to choose high-quality fuses is described in detail in the article “Automotive fuses”.

Features of the cabin unit

The main unit is located in the cabin. This is where the fuses and relays for most vehicle systems are located. This includes the external lighting system, cigarette lighter, heater and power windows. The UAZ Patriot fuse diagram will help you understand the purpose of each specific element :

What you need to know about the additional engine compartment unit

It is worth noting that the engine compartment fuse box of the UAZ Patriot is somewhat smaller, but it is responsible for the most important components (starter, fuel pump, anti-lock braking system, etc.). The node diagram can be seen below:

Thus, if a problem occurs in the electrical system, it will be necessary to check the serviceability of the fuses and relays, since this is where the problem mainly lies.

Description of fuses on UAZ Patriot

Fuses in all modifications of the UAZ model range, including pickups, are standard and are manufactured by various companies, both domestic and foreign. They contain a fuse-link and are disposable circuit breakers. After activation they must be replaced. The main selection criteria are the rated current and voltage. In older UAZ models, cylindrical products were used.

Practice has shown the inconvenience of using such parts, and therefore they were replaced with flag elements, sometimes called knife elements. If the car still has cylindrical fuses, then they can be replaced entirely, i.e. block, with modern details. The breakers are assembled into modules, where, in addition to them, relays are installed. One of the modules is located in the cabin, the other two are in the engine compartment.

The cabin unit has several modifications, depending on the year of manufacture:

  • in UAZs until 2007, the safety block from the VAZ 2110 sedan was used;
  • then the plant’s specialists developed their own module, which was installed in cars from 2007 to 2011;
  • it was replaced by a completely redesigned block with a different arrangement of parts.

The motor module is simpler, but no less important. There are mounting blocks of old and new models. The electrical elements inside them are placed differently. The third module, depending on the engine type, regulates the operation of the air conditioner or diesel glow plugs.

Fuse location

In all UAZ models, cabin fuses are located in the front, to the left of the steering wheel, in the lower part of the dashboard under the cover. The second module is located under the hood behind the battery. The third engine compartment module is located on the right wing and is closed with a lid.

Schemes by location

If you divide the plane of the block from the VAZ 2110 into 4 rows, then in the first upper row there are 2 relays K4 and K6 and 3 fuses F1-F3 between them. The second row is occupied by elements K1, K2, K3, K5 and K7, the third and fourth rows are filled with circuit breakers F4-F23, 10 pcs each. each has a total of 23 elements.

A self-developed module is described by six rows:

  • the first two lines are occupied by fuses F1 to F24, 12 pcs each. in a row;
  • the next two contain 3 relays K1-K6;
  • then there is a row where K7-K10 and F26-F30 are located;
  • the final 6th row is reduced: it contains only parts F25 and K11.

The unit, designed for installation in a car after 2011, is structured as follows:

  • all fuses are collected in the top two lines, 11 pcs each. in each;
  • then there are 2 rows of relay elements, from K1 to K7, where K5 is located in the inter-row space;
  • The scheme is completed by a row with parts K8 and K9.

average cost

Electrical fuses are sold both individually and in sets. The cost of an individual element ranges from 14 to 20 rubles. Blister sets contain 10-12 pcs. and cost from 150 to 200 rubles. As a bonus, some blisters have plastic pliers for removing parts.

The purpose of the relay that is located under the hood

  1. P 1 – starter.
  2. P 2 – rear window washer.
  3. P 3 – recirculation damper block.
  4. P 4 – first fan.
  5. R 5 – second fan.
  6. P 6 – compressor.
  7. P 7 – fuel pump.
  8. P 8 – alarm.
  9. P 9 – power unit control.
  10. R 10 – air conditioner.

It is worth noting that the UAZ Patriot fuse diagram may change based on the specific configuration of the vehicle (sometimes some relays are missing).
