TO 2
Greetings to everyone reading the review about Largus!
And so the time has come for the next vehicle maintenance, as well as some improvements.
When buying a car, I had the idea that, although the car was assembled in Russia, it had foreign-made roots, and in fact should break down less. Therefore, I was sure that I would carry out the planned work myself, but my opinion was replaced by common sense :)
After the unpleasant moments described in the post earlier, I decided to contact the officials in order to maintain the guarantee. I previously bought the oil that was poured during the first maintenance - Synthetic Shell Helix 5w-40 (1600 rubles for 5 liters). There is nothing good or bad to say about this oil, but no waste or poor starting in winter was detected. All other consumables were purchased from the dealer.
In addition to the scheduled work, I asked for wheel alignment and balancing of the front wheels (at speeds over 120 km/h there was a slight beating in the steering wheel)
Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the service, so I cannot evaluate the quality of the work itself. Although it was noticeable that they were doing something under the hood: they wiped the battery and sprayed some blue crap on the terminals, tightened some nuts...
One of the reported faults/requests was spontaneous lowering of the front seat backs. To which the answer was received that this is a disease and cannot be adjusted. I had read about this phenomenon before in the Logan-like family, but somehow I came across a review from the owner of a Largus that he replaced both front seats under warranty! Of course, anything can happen, but to be honest, it’s not at all difficult to turn the seat lifting mechanism a couple of times)))
Thought:
Routine maintenance includes replacing spark plugs. WHY change spark plugs at 30,000 km??? The old candles look quite decent and would last just as long! The manufacturer recommends changing spark plugs every 30,000 km, but I think this is not necessary. My father drove a Ford Fusion 80,000 on spark plugs alone and nothing...
About prices for work:
It took 7,783 rubles for everything, including consumables and additional work. Of these, RUB 2,587 is maintenance work. I think it's not expensive. I heard about the price tags for crossovers like Mazda and Toyota, so my heart is happy))
About consumption:
After replacing 5th gear, the consumption on the highway is 7.4-7.8 liters, 8 liters in strong winds. City/combined cycle 8.5-9.5 And all this on 92 gasoline. I noticed an interesting fact: now the higher the speed, the lower the consumption!)))
Improving:
I decided to do the soundproofing myself. First I tried to glue the arches in 2 layers: the first was vibration insulation, the second was noise insulation. I bought some material for future use, so there was some left over for the floor in the first row.
Having mastered the tools and technology, I slowly started working on the doors. I also glued it in two layers - vibration insulation inside the doors, and noise insulation on the door trim. All materials used are Shumoff brands. 4000 rubles were spent on materials and consumables. True, there is one extra sheet left, I’m thinking of gluing the rear arches.
The most important thing is that I am happy with the result! Because I was doing sizing as much as possible (for a month), but at first I didn’t pay attention to the changes. After taping all the doors, I really felt the result! It's actually become quieter! Yes, the sound of the standard audio system has also changed, bass has appeared! Well, I won’t write about closing the doors like on foreign cars - there is an effect!)
It is quite convenient to remove the door trim: when removing 6 trims, I only broke 2 clips, and that was through my own fault. Everything is fastened correctly and sits well without creating additional creaks.
There are plans to overcome noise at speeds. I want to try to pick up some rubber seals for the doorways (in addition to the standard ones), maybe there will be an effect too.
That's how he is, Larus!
Good luck to everyone on the roads, and buckle up your children!!!

Changing the engine oil and oil filter
Changing the oil in an 8-valve engine is easier. But for ease of use, we recommend purchasing an original cup puller. It is relatively inexpensive, and it is more convenient to work with. The drain plug can be unscrewed with an 8-square wrench. It also needs to be purchased in advance, before starting work. Access to the drain plug is possible through the slots in the standard protection of the engine compartment.
It will be more convenient to get to the oil filter of a 16-valve engine from an overpass or inspection hole. In this case, the protection must be removed; to do this, unscrew the six bolts and go in from below. If it is not possible to lift the car, you can get up from above by removing the protective screen of the fuel rail. Here a puller - a filter cup - will be very useful to us. You can’t cope here without it; the communications of the power steering, generator and air conditioner interfere with access. Even when using a puller, work carefully so as not to damage them.

Replacing the engine air filter
It is the air filter, or rather the filter element, that needs to be changed as often as the oil and oil filter. The service interval for the filter element is 15,000 km, but the owner can replace it himself. True, then the car will be removed from the warranty. No one forbids you to buy a new filter element and ask to install it, however, it is recommended to use only branded components. A non-original filter will be inserted with some tension and will be easily damaged. In general, when it comes to consumables, saving doesn’t make much sense, even if we are going to change the air filter.
On a K4M engine, to gain access to the filter housing, first remove the intake muffler. It's simple: you need to remove the mounting clamp (there is only one), and then you can remove the muffler completely. Remember the following: when performing any work, first remove the negative terminal of the battery. Now let's look at how to disassemble the air filter housing yourself.
The top cover of the casing is screwed to the body with self-tapping screws, and not with metric screws. It will be easy to unscrew them, then the cover is removed. Reassembling the unit is done in the reverse order, but you need to pay attention to the following. It will be easy to screw a self-tapping screw into metal, the main thing is not to cut a “new” thread. Therefore, by pressing down the head of the screw and rotating it counterclockwise, you need to feel for the beginning of the thread (a click should sound). Then, the fastener is twisted clockwise.

Description of the k4m engine (Renault Logan/Sandero/Largus)
It is a development of the K7M series, with a new cylinder head, already 16 valve.
There are many differences: K4M is quieter, it is more economical, there are no vibrations and many other advantages. Motor disadvantages:
- expensive spare parts.
- If the belt breaks, the valve bends; it is recommended to change the belt every 60 thousand km.
- there are failures in work.
- Low-quality fuel causes the revs to fluctuate.
- troit (most often the problem is in the ignition coil, injectors or spark plugs).
- Unstable operation and floating speed are usually caused by the crankshaft position sensor or ignition coil.
If you choose between K7M and K4M, then the choice should definitely remain with the more modern and practical K4M.
Description of the K7M engine (Renault Logan/Sandero/Largus)
In 2020, the K7M 800 engine appeared, which replaced the K7M 710. No design changes occurred, except that the engine was strangled, bringing it up to the Euro-4 environmental standard, while the power decreased from 86 hp to 83 hp. With.
The disadvantages of the engine remain the same:
- high fuel consumption.
- At idle the speed often fluctuates.
- Every 20-30 thousand km the valves need to be adjusted.
- no hydraulic compensators.
- If the belt breaks, the valve bends; it is recommended to change the belt every 60 thousand km.
- crankshaft oil seal leaking.
- the engine is noisy.
- there are vibrations during operation.
If you look at the engine from the positive side, it is worth noting its high reliability; according to the passport, the engine life is about 400 thousand km, but in practice it is a little more.
