Especially for the new model, AVTOVAZ designers have modernized the front and rear suspension.

Front suspension

For Lada Granta, which will be equipped with power steering (these are “standard” and “luxury” configurations), the front suspension caster is increased. It will be 2°45'. According to the developers, this will significantly improve the vehicle's directional stability. At the same time, an increase in caster also entails an increase in the applied force on the steering wheel.

Therefore, such versions of Lada Granta will be equipped with power steering with increased compensating torque. In order to reduce the number of steering revolutions to 3, a “short” steering rack will be installed on the Grant. This rack will also improve the car's handling.

In the “standard” configuration, the Lada Granta will be produced without power steering; accordingly, it will have a standard caster of 1°40'. In addition, in this configuration a conventional steering rack will be installed and the steering wheel will retain the number of revolutions equal to 4.

The problem is that our swamp climate does not offer good weather, and in bad weather these 4 kilometers on foot with the child again brought me back to thoughts about the car.

My cunning calculations showed that using a taxi is much more profitable than buying a car. But the beautiful theory collided with the realities of the harsh Dyatkino ghetto. At rush hour in the morning, not a single taxi could arrive in our village on time. Taxovichkov, Yandex.taxi and other Ubers cannot deliver the car at the appointed time. Even if pre-orders a day in advance didn't help. Local Nyatskiy jihad taxis could sometimes arrive in a reasonable amount of time. But it would be very difficult to drive dead cars every day and watch the driver talk on the phone and at the same time write down information about the next call in a notepad, managing to turn the steering wheel with his chin and knee.

So, after several unsuccessful attempts, the idea of ​​taxi rides was abandoned.

With the onset of cold weather, thoughts about buying a car began to arise more often and more persistently. We already agreed to at least something, as long as we could predictably get to kindergarten in warmth and dryness.

Not having enough finances, I was already thinking about the Lada in a more or less live form. At least they are easier and cheaper to repair than fawns. But this is not the most reliable way to travel.

Gradually I began to look through advertisements, forums and calculate options. Here the quarterly bonus could not have come at a better time. Also added motivation was the final cancellation of trains to Pskov and several long trips with Mashunya on public transport with a bunch of bags.

The second option is Hyundai solaris or Kia Rio

We really liked the Kia Rio and it suited us in all respects, except for one thing – cost. But the prices for Rio and Solaris were not much more than what we could afford.

There was a possibility that the manufacturers would organize some kind of action to support the fallen market and we would be able to fit into the budget. Out of pure curiosity, we went to the salon and inquired about promotions and all sorts of lucrative offers.

But, apparently, the Koreans were doing well with sales, and there was no need to stimulate demand.

After sighing, we discarded this option.

The fourth option is the former Chevrolet Lacetti, at that time Daewoo Gentra, almost Ravon Gentra

This car was praised by many. Very many. But I was wary of her. The old model, which has been produced without any significant changes for 15 years, is assembled in Uzbekistan with Tashkent engines - it doesn’t sound very tempting.

But at the same time it is large and spacious inside. The biggest one for the money. With a classic six-speed Korean torque converter automatic, which was also installed on the Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra. Moreover, at that time it could be bought at a promotional price for 510,000 rubles, and we could meet this budget.

At some point, I was almost definitely going to take Gentra. I found dealers, looked through all the salons' offers, and read a bunch of topics on club forums. But doubts did not leave me. And topics on the forums fueled them.

Almost everyone had complaints about the assembly. For most, the suspension immediately began to creak, and half of the air conditioner pipes did not survive the winter. The list of birth sores is quite impressive. The ancient interior, originally from the nineties, also did not add enthusiasm. And the primitive dashboard, which is even less informative than that of the notorious fawn. All sorts of electrical goodies are not about the gentry at all. Compared to it, the fiesta we watched earlier seemed like a spaceship from the distant future.

Without ceasing to doubt, we finally got ready and went to the showroom to look at the car in person and buy it if we liked it. But on the way there was a Lada salon. And, before making the final choice, we decided to look there.

Engine and transmission

It is not typical for a budget car to have a full range of engines and transmissions. A number of engines are offered for the Lada Granta to suit every taste and budget:
