Lada Vesta has proven itself well in existing bodies - but since the Grant liftback is in demand, then why not. But manufacturers are not going to rest on their success. We can expect an expansion of the line in the near future. It is quite possible that we will soon see the Lada Vesta liftback version.
AvtoVAZ planned to produce almost all versions of the body. The series production includes VAZ models: sedan, station wagon, crossover. The next body type of the Lada Vesta should be a hatchback or liftback. However, when analyzing the consumer market, AvtoVAZ found out that the Lada Vesta Liftback would be in demand. It can become a replacement for the Lada Granta, which is in great demand due to its capacity.
The luggage space of the liftback is connected to the passenger compartment and, when the rear seats are folded, its volume doubles. This is precisely why buyers so value the faceless Granta and Priora - models, frankly speaking, are already outdated (the Lada Vesta sedan is better in terms of technical and other characteristics, but there is clearly not enough space for cargo). There is unofficial evidence that their production will cease in the near future.
Lada salon
The liftback body is 16 centimeters shorter than the sedan body, but inside it appears larger than the sedan. This is due to the location of the seats and the expanded interior space. In addition, the Lada's interior is equipped with brackets that can be used to easily and securely attach the folded rear seats.
Like other new models from AvtoVAZ, the Lada Vesta liftback is trimmed inside with fabric, plastic or eco-leather. The design of the center console will remain the same with an LCD screen for the on-board computer. The panel displays information about the status of the vehicle's systems, a standard audio system is installed, and air conditioning is included in the basic configuration.

About the nuances of the exterior design of both models
LADA Vesta is positioned as a status model, capable of competing with global giants such as Hyundai Solaris and Škoda Rapid. The Lada Granta cannot “reach” such heights, but it is a completely modern option, enjoying enviable popularity among a large army of domestic fans and capable of winning back the trump cards of the Lada Vesta due to the presence of its strengths. Some will say that it is better to choose a version that is comparable to a European car, but we suggest comparing the models in other parameters.
- Both models, which we are comparing, are in the budget B segment. The exterior of the Lada Vesta is more sporty and modern. Its competitor is characterized by recognizable notes of appearance: smooth lines and triviality. It is the brevity inherent in the Lada Granta that is greatly appreciated by buyers.
- Vesta has chrome front inserts. The side panels boast elegant and intriguing recesses. Here, due to its faceless exterior, the Lada Grant has no chance to compete with its rival. And someone will again say that Vesta is better.
- Vesta scores extra points for the presence of necessary and practical features: galvanized body and protection against snow penetration into the interior during closing. And this is a completely objective comparison.
Important! In this competitive comparison, a significant advantage of the Grant is the ability to choose a modification between a sedan and a liftback. To replenish Vesta’s body range, work is underway on a station wagon and a hatchback. Therefore, what to choose depends on what the car is purchased for.
There is an opinion among professionals that with the release of the indicated modifications of Vesta, the Lada Granta can be forgotten. That it is better to choose the first option, and you can’t even compare them.
Design and external features of the car
The main feature of the car’s appearance is the smooth straight line of the body from the roof to the trunk. In general, all changes to Vesta concern the rear. It will become shorter, its length will be 4.25 meters (recall the sedan is 4.41 meters). The change will allow you to move and park more confidently in city mode.
The remaining parameters are unchanged. The width of the car will be 1.764 meters, height – 1.497. The wheelbase will remain the same - 2.635 meters with a track of 1.51 meters. It is possible that the vehicle's ground clearance will be too high.
In terms of design, the liftback will inherit the X-shaped connection of the radiator grille with headlights and the branded front “arrows” of the body. The appearance will also acquire new features: the rear lights, brake light, bumper, and the geometry itself will be changed. The color scheme will be standard.
↑ Interior
There is no reliable data yet regarding how the interior of the Vesta hatchback will be equipped. The interior will largely replicate the interior space of other models in the line. In particular, all instruments and controls will be placed as conveniently as possible for the driver, forming a kind of cockpit.
One of the main elements of the interior will be the display of the multimedia and navigation system, as well as an elegant center console with an armrest. The hatchback will be characterized by the presence of many possibilities for transforming the interior, in particular, thanks to folding rear seats, increasing the free space for transporting large cargo.
Vesta in a hatchback body is quite a promising model for the domestic market, and if AvtoVAZ nevertheless decides to bring it to the assembly line, it will certainly win the hearts of a large number of car enthusiasts.
2016 will be a very interesting year for lovers of Russian automotive products. Some will be waiting for the appearance of the all-wheel drive crossover Lada XRAY Cross (the regular XRAY will appear in 2020), while for others this year will be associated with the start of sales of the Lada Vesta hatchback. Trunk
Let's note it as a separate point - this is the essence of the new car. The capacity of the luggage compartment of the 2180 liftback during normal operation will be 440 liters, which is already more than that of the sedan. This effect is achieved thanks to the different shape of the fifth door - it is not closed in its own space, but has access to the salon. This will extend the cargo capacity due to empty passenger seats. The rear seats fold down and the shelf is removed. Trunk volume increases to 760 liters (i.e. doubled!).

Fundamentally, cars in sedan and hatchback bodies do not have any special differences; the wheelbase, width and height of the car most often remains the same as it was on the sedan, but the total length of the car changes downward, just as access to the luggage compartment becomes unique. compared to a sedan. On average, the length of the car will decrease by 1.5-2 centimeters, the tailgate will open along with the rear window, which will allow you to fit larger cargo in the trunk. In addition, by reducing the length of the body, as well as improved aerodynamics, the car will feel much more active on the road surface.
Powertrains and technical specifications
The liftback will be equipped with four engines according to each version (Start, Comfort, Lux): VAZ 11189 (87 horsepower), VAZ 21129 (106 hp), VAZ 21176 (114 hp), possibly HR16DE-H4M (122 hp). The last of them is the Lada engine, combined with a new manual transmission, and this gearbox has been discontinued in other VAZ 2180 models.
There are two transmission options for Vesta liftback - robotic, manual mechanical. Both are Russian. While the filling does not differ from the parameters of its predecessor. Let's see what's new.
Almost certainly, the update will affect the suspension and steering. The car has a greater carrying capacity; the basic chassis of the sedan does not suit it. A more powerful uprated installation is needed. The entire set of security systems will be installed in the basic configuration.

The price of the Granta in the 106-horsepower version ranges from 420 to 440 thousand rubles. Any version in the LADA Vesta model range is significantly more expensive. What to choose depends on the allocated budget for the car.
In terms of the dynamic parameters of the Grant, the liftback in some versions reaches the performance of the newer model, but its interior and exterior leave much to be desired.
Which option to give preference to, which is better from the presented options, is up to the buyer to decide! It is recommended to purchase a car from a dealer network that has great authority in sales policies.
The domestic auto industry has recently begun its recovery process, a striking example of which was the Lada Vesta and Lada Granta. - The 106-horsepower 16-valve power unit will be available in a more expensive configuration
- The most expensive version will receive a Renault-Nissan alliance engine with 114 horsepower.
The lowest-power unit will be paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The 106-horsepower unit will be offered in combination with a similar “mechanics” and a five-speed automatic transmission. But the most powerful modification of the Lada Vesta will be equipped with a five-speed manual transmission from the manufacturer JHQ.
