The amount of free space in the car’s interior is not satisfactory; it is designed to comfortably seat five people. The trunk volume of the Lada Vesta SW Cross is 480 liters (like a regular station wagon). It can be increased to 825 liters by folding the rear backrest (you won’t be able to get a perfectly flat floor).

I can’t say that this is a breakthrough, but the level and quality have clearly increased compared to previous models. This article will not contain any arguments about whether this car is good or not. Let's consider only the main technical characteristics of the Lada Vesta Cross SW. The new AvtoVAZ model promises to “blow up” the Russian station wagon market, becoming the most affordable car in this body type, not counting the Lada Kalina. The cost of Vesta SW has not yet been disclosed, but judging by the pricing in the line of modifications of the same Kalina, the additional payment for versatility will be more than reasonable. We assume that the new product will be 20-30 thousand more expensive than the sedan. What is the new station wagon? In terms of design, this is an undoubted success of the “Varyag” team of Steve Mattin. The new product looks very harmonious, and small touches, in the form of a plastic trim on the rear pillar, visually “breaking” the connection with the roof and giving this very pillar a resemblance to a shark fin (“the shark” theme is also supported by the “fin” of the antenna on the roof), emphasize attention to the details.

In terms of dimensions, the Lada Vesta SW fits exactly into the framework of a platform sedan, so the trunk, whose volume has not yet been revealed, is unlikely to be much larger than that of the 4-door version. Only the height of the body differs - in the regular version of the station wagon, one and a half centimeters are “plus” with roof rails (black for SW, and silver for SW Cross), and in the “off-road” version another two and a half centimeters are added to the ground clearance, increased from the standard “West” 17.8 cm up to 20.3 cm.

Other external differences of the Lada Vesta SW Cross include standard 17-inch alloy wheels, a protective “skirt” of unpainted black plastic around the perimeter of the body and original bumpers with imitation steel protection (the rear one has a cutout for a chrome “double-barrel” muffler tip). By the way, due to the body kit and other bumpers, the “off-road” version has become almost two centimeters wider and one and a half longer.

There are no photos of the interior yet, but the Vesta SW Cross will probably be decorated with colored inserts on the seats, front panel and doors (orange trims are visible in some photos of the exterior). This set of additional features certainly makes the model’s appearance brighter, but will affect the price. According to our modest estimates, the buyer will have to pay at least 50 thousand extra for the “off-road” body kit and other tinsel. But, you must admit, it’s worth it!

Serial production of the station wagon will start this summer, and sales will begin in September-October. Moreover, most likely, the regular Lada Vesta SW will be the first to enter the market, and a month later it will be joined by the SW Cross version. The new products will correct some of the shortcomings of the Vesta sedan: in particular, all station wagons will receive an external trunk opening button, as well as a lockable gas tank flap.
