The easiest way to tune the 2105 engine is to install the next generation DAAZ 21053 Solex carburetor. The increase, of course, will be insignificant.

A higher increase in power is provided by boring the cylinders and increasing the piston stroke. Possible options:

• Boring the cylinder bores to 82 mm increases the volume to 1400 cm³.
• Using the same pistons, but a longer crank (shaft 2103 with an 80 mm crank) and connecting rods shortened by 7 mm gives 1600 cubes.
• When both options are combined, the working volume becomes 1700 cm³. This tuning of the VAZ 2105 engine allows you to achieve a power of 100 hp. With.

A more radical way to improve technical characteristics is to replace the standard engine with a rotary power unit (VAZ 413 Wankel engine), produced at VAZ in small batches. Despite its small size, the tuning drive produces 140 horsepower. Of course, getting it is very problematic.

The engine with the VAZ 2105 index was underestimated because it was ahead of its time. It became the first domestic engine with a timing belt instead of a traditional chain. It’s hard to name another car that is so actively subject to modifications as the VAZ 2105. The “Five” is subject to modification by all and sundry. Most often, the VAZ 2105 becomes a victim of inept, called “ara-tuning”, due to the initially low price and completely “wooden” configuration. Therefore, almost any owner strives to mark his own car with absolutely incredible modifications in the form of “benches” on the trunk, “forward flows,” various kinds of special signals and cranks. To call all this VAZ 2105 tuning is even incorrect.

Dashboard. The first thing that has to be modified is the dashboard of the VAZ 2105. It can be replaced completely, or significantly changed. It’s just right, especially if financial resources are small, to install a radio, install LED tint, repaint the panel in a catchy color, change the steering wheel to a sports one. Improving the performance of the VAZ 2105.

So, the first thing the car owner made with his own hands regarding the driving properties of his car was to replace the standard carburetor with a carburetor taken from the Niva. This brought some improvement in overclocking dynamics. But the car became noticeably faster. Then the cooling system underwent tuning. At the same time, an oversized radiator and an electric radiator were installed. Then the main gear was changed from the standard 4.9 to 5.3. The stock muffler has been replaced. Dual anti-roll bars have been added, and the shock absorbers have been replaced with gas ones. Now a few words about the brakes. The dynamics of the car have improved noticeably, of course, safety requires correction. It was decided to install disc brakes from a VAZ 2108 car and calipers from an Oka car. The front discs are taken from the “desyatochka”, ventilated. Well, that’s probably all that concerns increasing the driving properties of the car. The result of the modifications is that the car's behavior on the highway is more reminiscent of a good sports car. Naturally, the engine is probably very complex in design and modifications should only be undertaken if you have the necessary technical skills and knowledge.

Do-it-yourself external tuning of VAZ 2105.

Regarding the external tuning of the 2105, roughly speaking, everything is quite simple: the device panel has been replaced with a “sports” one, exactly like a “steering wheel”. The seat was changed, a rear spoiler and body kit were installed. All work was carried out by the car owner personally, with the exception of the complete painting of the car. Therefore, the price of do-it-yourself tuning turned out to be very modest. The owner himself states that he initially sought to make a car suitable for “incendiary” competitions, although at the same time its cost would be much less than the cost of the most ordinary Japanese sports car.

Windshield tinting

A darkened windshield looks really stylish and impressive, but such VAZ tuning is rare. According to GOST, the tinting of the front glass should be no more than 25%. Also, to improve visibility on the windshield, experts advise attaching a reflective film, the width of which should be no more than 14 cm.

To do your own tuning of the VAZ-2105 (you can see photos of the results in our article), you will need the following tools and materials:

• Tinting film.
• Rubber eraser.
• Dry soft cloth.
• Industrial dryer.
• Putty knife.
• Cutter or knife.
• Glass cleaner (soap solution).

Work order:

• Initially, wash and dry the windshield thoroughly. To stick a special film, you do not need to dismantle it, just remove the sealing rubber.
• Measure the surface of the glass with a tape measure and cut the film according to these measurements with a margin.
• Spray the soap solution over the surface and over the film, freeing it from the protective layer in advance.
• Stick it on the windshield. Using a rubber eraser, remove any excess moisture that remains inside.
• It is best to smooth the film from the center to the sides. To make the tint take the shape of glass, heat it with a hair dryer.
• If you didn’t succeed in gluing the film beautifully the first time, you can remove it and re-glue it. While the film is wet, it will peel off quickly and without defects. However, when it becomes dry, it will not be possible to remove it without damaging it.
• After a certain time after sticking, trim off the excess material around the edges.

Headlight modification

The most popular way to tune a VAZ-2105 at home is to install LED lamps. As experts say, using LEDs instead of halogens is much more economical, and they provide better quality light. The main advantages of installing LEDs in VAZ headlights:

• The cost-effectiveness of such lighting allows you to significantly relieve the on-board network of the machine.
• Such lamps provide an even and diffused light, which will provide excellent visibility and will not dazzle drivers driving in the oncoming lane.
• LED lights are considered reliable and have a long service life.
• Tuning of this type looks really attractive in appearance.

Instead of LED lighting, it is quite possible to install xenon lamps, because they will shine many times brighter. But xenon can blind oncoming drivers, which is a big drawback.

Engine tuning

By analogy with the manufacturer’s previous internal combustion engines, the 2105 engine can increase power in several ways:

• boring the cylinders to fit the size of the larger piston;
• increasing the stroke length of the connecting rod;
• installation of a sports camshaft;
• installation of 4 or 2 carburetors;
• boring of cylinder head channels.

Tinting headlights with varnish

Let's take a closer look at the currently popular tinting of headlights using aerosol paint. This is not quite a simple varnish that we are used to using for car repairs. It is also sold in a can, but has completely different characteristics. You should remember that inside the headlight structure, while driving, a high temperature regime is noticed. Therefore, not every type of mixture is able to withstand such operating conditions. Therefore, you need to buy a special varnish. Sequence of work that you can do yourself:

1. Wash and dry the headlights well. It is not necessary to remove them.
2. Cover the area around the headlights with masking tape.
3. Treat the headlights with a special degreasing solution.
4. Apply the tinting varnish from a distance of 30 cm, so it will apply evenly.
5. Remember to take a break between applying the first and second coat of varnish to allow it to dry thoroughly.
6. When the last layer has dried well, polish the surface of the headlights. This will allow you to achieve the matte effect that is so popular today.
7. This coating can be removed using acetone.

Sticker of special film on headlights

It’s easy to do this VAZ-2105 tuning yourself. It is believed that tinting with a special film is a fresher look at improving the optics of a car. The higher quality the material, the better. You can usually buy good quality tint film from auto parts stores and advertising agencies. Its cost directly depends not only on the quality, but also on the manufacturing company. When selecting a material for tinting headlights, it is important to pay attention to its light transmittance. The lower the percentage of light transmittance, the worse the lantern will shine. You can apply the film yourself:

1. Wash and dry the surface of the headlights thoroughly.
2. Degrease the structure.
3. Cut the film to the size of the lights.
4. Wipe the headlights with soapy water.
5. Remove the protective backing from the film and apply the base material to the headlight.
6. Using a rubber spatula, smooth out the film, removing excess air and water.

The complexity of modifications to the VAZ 2105

Increasing the power of a VAZ 2105 with a belt motor is much more difficult than, for example, a VAZ 21053. For example, when using a “humpbacked” camshaft, it will be necessary to install a split drive gear. But it simply does not exist for the “five” engine with a belt; it will not be possible to set marks. It would be better then to replace the engine completely, for example, install a 2105 diesel or purchase a kit for conversion to an injector. Still, of all types of VAZ fuel, diesel fuel is the cheapest. And the injector, although gasoline, will also reduce fuel consumption, because its design is such that the jets are controlled electronically.

Deep tuning of a VAZ engine should be carried out only for certain creative reasons. Light modifications to the VAZ 2105 can be done with your own hands without spending a lot of money. For example, if the VAZ 2105 engine is overheating, it is quite possible to modify the power system. And, in addition to this, reduce fuel consumption on the VAZ.

Before starting work, you should carefully read the recommendations, draw up an approximate tuning budget and parts estimate, and familiarize yourself with where the markings and marks are on the parts. It often turns out that the set aside funds are not enough. Probably everyone can guess why this happens. When disassembling the car, it turns out that it is necessary not only to modify the engine, but also, for example, to make a major overhaul of the load-bearing parts of the body. You will also need a diagram or repair book before work. Despite the fact that the markings of different Zhiguli units are different, the literature can be used from different modifications.

Rear window grille

An alternative option to darkening the rear window is decorative curtains. This decor is made of durable plastic and has a blinds-like design. Also, this accessory not only protects from bad weather conditions such as heavy rain, snow and hail, but also from hot sun rays. The big advantage of plastic visors is their ease of installation. New upholstery

Another option for tuning the interior of a VAZ-2105 (see photo above) is the choice of new upholstery for the seats. The most “old-fashioned” option is to purchase fur covers. The upholstery can also be made from natural materials, suede and even leatherette. To reupholster all the seats in the car, you will need about three meters of upholstery.

For the job you will also need plywood, which you should cut to fit the outline of the seat. Next, upholstery material is applied to it and excess pieces are cut off from it. It is important to leave about 1 cm at the edges for margin. After this, the upholstery is wrapped to the back of the plywood and glued using foam rubber and adhesive. Apply the glue carefully, as too much glue can damage the seat upholstery. If genuine leather is selected for the reupholstery, then only a construction gun and special staples should be used to fix it.

Tuning the interior of the VAZ 2105

We will tune the interior of the VAZ 2105, but before we start work, we need to decide what exactly we want to get as a result of the work. Tuning is performed at room temperature, and be patient, because you will have to spend a lot of time. In this case, we have a VAZ 2105 car, on which it was decided to install a good audio system. This involves installing speakers on the front doors.

However, the design of the machine does not allow finding a suitable depth for the column. To ensure high-quality sound, you will have to install podiums. As a result, we decide not only to install the speakers, but also to move the door handle to a more convenient place. So, we decide on the tasks that will need to be solved. First of all, we install spacers under the speakers, then we mount the speakers themselves, after which we move the door opening handles and finally change the upholstery. You need to choose the right material; the base will be a sheet of plywood, 3 mm thick. This material is quite durable, lightweight, does not bend and will create the correct acoustic effect. First we change the trim on the front doors, where we will then install the speakers. It is necessary to familiarize yourself with the design of the door in order to organically position the door opening handles. There was a place for it - the top hole in the door, which is located almost under the glass. So we don’t have to cut or cook anything. However, we are not satisfied with the ergonomics of the handles; they do not fit into the overall design of the interior, especially since these elements are in the most visible place. We buy handles from the VAZ 2125, as they are the most comfortable, and also have a plastic backing. Next, cut a rectangular hole in the plywood where the handles will be located. We make several holes for the speakers on a three-centimeter board.

Now we have the base, podiums, installed speakers, door handles, now we need to add beauty. There is foam rubber and Indian leather. First of all, we draw the outline from the plywood, and then cut it to size on each side. Next, outline and cut out the necessary holes. Now we will need colorless glue, which also does not emit a pungent odor, let's start gluing. This step will take approximately 10 minutes. It is advisable not to smear completely, it is better to make local points so that in case of a mistake you can tear it off without harm to the material. In any case, the foam will be pressed against the skin. It is recommended to use a staple gun to attach the leather. After covering, we feel for the prepared holes and make small holes in this place. Once we have done all the work and the upholstery is already on, we discover that it is impossible to put on the front window handles. It turns out that thick foam does not allow you to put on the lift washer and fix it properly. The exit is a landing polyhedron. This article offers only a general outline; there are many little details in the work that you will have to decide on your own. Although this will not scare a true tuning lover. We get a good acoustic effect with high-quality car audio in the VAZ 2105 and a beautiful interior.
