Total: not yet a foreign car, but clearly not a typical representative of the domestic automobile industry, and it will definitely give many imported ones a head start. Outwardly she is a beauty. The salon is nice. Chassis and Shumka - you won’t find these for under 1 million rubles. Engine - we'll see after running it in, but it's definitely better than Kalina's.
I thought that the chassis and directional stabilization system (road holding) of my wife’s Nissan Tiida were excellent, but how wrong I was! SV Cross was invented specifically for the roads I drive on! Now the quality of the road means nothing to me. We can say that it rides “like on rails”!
Review of the new Lada Vesta Cross 1.8 (122 hp) MT 2020
Video review
I decided that I would break it in like this - no more than 2,500 rpm. This is 90 km/h. I set up the cruise and drove off, only the tires were noisy. The cross holds the road excellently and is sensitive to steering movements. Everything is convenient, everything is at hand. I immediately figured out the multimedia gadgets - the radio reception is excellent, the volume and clarity of the sound are pleasing. I really liked talking “through the machine” - the music is gradually muffled, and then only the call comes through. Fuel consumption during the haul was shown by the car computer to be around 7.8 liters per 100 km. Great!
Review of Lada Vesta SV Cross 1.8 (122 hp) MT 2020
Compared to my previous Kia Sid and Cross. Not everything is so simple. In terms of handling, the Cross is not inferior to Sid, it even takes turns much more confidently (I’ve already had time to appreciate it) - but this is a track. But on gravel/primer or “tired” asphalt, here Cross is not a head, but all three taller than Sid.
Where Cross confidently drives at 60-70 km/h, Sid trudges along at 5-10 km/h, and if you give the gas and raise the speed to 25-30 km/h, then, excuse me, Sid will simply fall apart, since he has short-travel and rigid suspension. The Cross’s suspension, on the contrary, is long-travel and energy-intensive.
Around the cabin. Vesta has more space for the driver and front passenger; I’m already silent about the rear passengers, where three of them are quite comfortable. And in Side, rear passengers can feel comfortable, only two of them, the third will experience wild discomfort (a very hard seat in the middle).
True, the interior material is much better from the Korean. The dashboard made of SOFT plastic costs a lot, and the texture itself is pleasing to the eye. But the seats in Vesta, in my opinion, are better in terms of ergonomics. I set it up for myself quite quickly and comfortably.
But the driver’s left leg does not have enough space in the place of “rest”, and the front passenger also has a little trouble with his right leg. Why did the front arches climb into the interior?!
Now my Cross is being run-in, I try not to allow high revs (unless when overtaking). Dynamics can be rated 5-6 on a 10-point scale. Maybe it will open up by 10,000 km... In the urban cycle, the dynamics suit me.
AMT. Everything here is predictable and understandable... Changing gears takes a long 1.5-2.0 seconds, while the switching itself is very “amusing”. It takes a very long time for the clutch to engage and the car rolls at full speed, which creates the impression that someone is holding my Cross by the ass... As a result, banal engine braking occurs.
When you start pressing the gas pedal, the robot reacts quite quickly, but the main thing here is not to “overdo it,” otherwise you might end up with a kick-down with all the ensuing consequences.
Review of Lada Vesta SW Cross 1.8 (122 hp) robot 2020
in Vesta SV Cross 04/23/2018 8,
An off-road version of the familiar Lada Vesta appeared on city roads at the end of last year. Before the start of sales, there were guesses and discussions about the expected new product.
I was interested in everything - the build quality, the filling, the driving properties and what differences it would have from the sedan.
By analyzing reviews from real owners who were the first to own the model, you can identify the advantages and disadvantages and decide whether to buy this car.
Reviews from real owners
Maxim, St. Petersburg
I chose a car for a long time, read reviews from the first buyers, looked at photos, but when I saw it in person, I fell in love and decided to buy it. This is not yet a foreign car, but also not a familiar representative of our automobile industry. It can give many imported models a head start.
Appearance is beauty. Stylish, graceful, modern. The interior is comfortable and pleasant. There is enough space.
Sound insulation is so-so, but justifies the asking price. I can’t say anything about the engine yet - the car is still being run-in. But much better than Kalina's.
Exploitation
The car's suspension is quite stiff, however, much softer than that of competitors from the same brand. Reviews from Lada Vesta SV owners report that this is the golden mean. And not bad, and not a “Russian Mercedes”, which has air suspension. She doesn't sail like a ship, she doesn't drive like a tank. Everything is very calm, quiet and comfortable. In moderation, of course. Handling is good - this is really the advantage of this car. Even though this is a station wagon, taking long corners is nothing but a pleasure. Drives like a modern sports car.

I purchased a Lada Vesta SV 1.6 comfort + at the end of June 2020. The first days of operation I was very pleased. Until the first rain. It turned out that my car was leaking. They lifted the carpets, everything below was wet. The car dealership said it was a manufacturing defect and they would fix it. They said that this was the first case in their practice, and I was simply unlucky. Paying a lot of money (for me), I have to worry about whether I will be lucky or not? How was the car tested for leaks? Does anyone at VAZ actually look after this?

When the LADA Vesta went on sale, I immediately started looking at it – it’s a beauty. But I didn’t need a sedan, and even one with low ground clearance - I have a big family, I have a dog, and everyone is interested in sports. Therefore, children, dogs, strollers, and sports equipment should enter the car easily. Beauty is great, but practicality is more important. That’s why I kept looking for a suitable station wagon – I don’t like all sorts of “heels”. And finally, I waited until the “trailer” appeared - Vesta SW Cross. In the pictures in orange it looked breathtaking, but in person it turned out to be even better - cool interior, gorgeous view from the outside. ..full text of the review about LADA Vesta SW Cross

In winter, snow gets packed into the gap between the trunk lid and the roof of the SW cross, melts and turns into ice. Further, when opening the trunk lid, we see a picture: the upper part of this very lid goes down and scrapes the ice, breaking the paint on the edge. This always happens when the car is outside in the snow. Is there a rubber seal that covers the gap between the roof and the lid? Who solves this problem?

Good day everyone! It's been six months since I bought the Lada Vesta SW Cross. Enough time to try this car. I will try not to write too long. The Prestige AMT package cost about 920 thousand without insurance, but with extras. Compared to its competitors, it’s not bad, since the car is decently equipped for the money.
A definite plus and one of the factors why I took this particular station wagon is its appearance. Few will argue that the car turned out to be beautiful, and in the “cross” version with this body kit it is generally mmm.
The second thing that caught my eye right from the first test at the dealer was the chassis. The suspension is set up surprisingly well. ..full text of the review about Lada Vesta SW Cross

I had a Lada Granta, I loved it. I traveled for five years, and... no, I didn’t kill him, but I sold it quite successfully. The question arose about buying a new car. And then Vesta’s “barn” just came out. I really liked this cart! Well, it’s true: it’s rare that a station wagon is more beautiful than a sedan. I wouldn’t take a Vesta sedan, but I fell for this beauty and that’s it, watch out. In general, I bought it.
I was amazed that I had to wait two months after ordering - there was a queue! The cars were being raked, which, unfortunately, affected the dealer’s compliance with extras. Any little thing is extra charge. They wanted to charge 3 thousand rubles for the plastic protection of the engine, but I didn’t give up, then I bought it myself for a thousand. ..full text of the review about Lada Vesta SW

Hi all! I have never been registered on Drive before, at the request of “forum members” I will transfer my review to this site. Original topic on the forum - www.lada-vesta.net/showthread.php?t=537 I've been driving for 9 years. Cars: 1. Audi 100 1986 (father’s car, learned to drive); 2. Lada Priora 2010 (I took a new car from the dealership, sold it in November 2020). 3. Lada Vesta… “Lyrical digression”. I was quite pleased with the Priora, a decent device for the money. I haven’t made any capital investments in 5 years (I didn’t repair anything critical under warranty), all post-warranty repairs (the few) are cheap. But comfort...the weak point of the domestic automobile industry. I decided for myself that I would choose from Solaris, Rio, Polo and Rapids... But when it was time to change the car (2015), prices for foreign cars were already, to put it mildly, inadequate and continued to rise. I kept an eye on Vesta and decided for myself that until I test drive Vesta, I won’t change the car. On November 25, I went to see the Lada Vesta at Tyumen-AvtoVAZ and was pleasantly surprised by the approach to the presentation of the new car; the scope and level of the event was more than impressive. On November 26, I took a test drive and realized that it was not in vain that I waited! I made a pre-order, made an advance payment a couple of days later and... On December 4, 2020, I picked up my car from the dealership. I really like the interior and exterior. I think the design is very original and modern. Just don’t try to talk nonsense about something you copied from Mitsubishi. Here it’s just the opposite, no matter how strange it may sound. One of Steve Mattin's assistants (chief designer of AvtoVAZ) at one time moved to the Japanese company, and the original X-shaped concept X-RAY was already shown to the world public. Successful design solutions were simply borrowed. Among the objective disadvantages (oh, horror, they exist - spiteful critics of AvtoVAZ rejoice): the interior stinks, but the truth must be said that it dissipates very quickly (Logan stinks much worse in the dealer's cabin, if that...). On the second day there is almost no smell.; In Tyumen there was a lot of snow and skidding on the robot seemed problematic at first glance. In the cooperative I drove through the snowdrifts - the clutch smelled, the gearbox icon began to blink. But as more experienced comrades suggested, you need to turn off the stabilization system. By the way, mega-reviewers on the Internet stated that when ESP is turned off, this is not displayed anywhere. Again, a friend suggested - you need to hold the button for a couple of seconds and (lo and behold) the indication in the tidy lights up. If you don’t accelerate, the robot does everything extremely smoothly, but of course there is a little hesitation. The noise of the arches is really average. Not to say that it doesn't exist at all. Velcro rubber greatly increases comfort in this case. During the test I rode on spikes - the sound was transmitted perfectly. It even seemed to me that it was louder than in Priora. But in fact, everything else is soundproofed is not bad, and against this background the sound from the arches is out of tune with the overall harmony. That's all in principle. But since I followed Vesta very closely through various reviews, all this has already been noted.
Now to the positives. I don’t even know how to describe it. I'm happy with just one phrase - you can't get away with it. I wanted a decent car with an automatic transmission and I got it, for a very reasonable price (according to current realities - Polo, Rio, Solaris, Rapid - empty cars with an automatic transmission cost from 670 and above, these are the most affordable automatic vehicles. Foreign cars are poorer in equipment and even more expensive in similar configurations, I wrote about similar configurations above - price tags 800+. The only more or less similar device is the Emgrand EC7. But I didn’t consider it, because they are currently selling off the remaining cars (it is not possible to choose a configuration and color, only cars in stock - I called all the showrooms within a radius of 1000 km from Tyumen - there is no car I need). All cars with a 2014 title... and judging by my observations, they sell very poorly on the secondary market, although the car is good. In a similar configuration they cost 800+ and there are no loans there at 6.9%, because payments are received for the same amount and term, only at a much higher percentage - the same. How they do it. In one of the salons they said that Kia actually has a real percentage of around 14% - This already seems to be true according to my calculations). In terms of handling and chassis. I don’t know what they did there, but the car steers perfectly, the steering wheel has the force you’d expect. The suspension behaves perfectly over all kinds of potholes and potholes. (I drove Polika for some time, so I have something to compare with). The brakes, although they are rear drums, work perfectly and predictably. I have no complaints. I bought Velcro tires Nokian Hakkapelita R2 195/55 R16. I repeat, it steers perfectly. Through slushy snow and ice like a tank. goes exactly where you need it. Yesterday on the way to the dacha I checked the ESP - it works great. Extinguishes drifts perfectly. In a Priora, I flew off the road with a rollover - so I was looking for a new car exclusively with a stabilization system. Again, it is available on all Vestas, on foreign cars, as a rule, only in the richest trim levels or not at all. Around the cabin. MMS made me happy. The clock was confused, then I figured it out - the navigation settings were set to the wrong time zone - so after each start, it changed the time to MMS. Easily connected the phone. Now I talk via MMS - everything is convenient, I even uploaded my phone book to my memory. The tidy is convenient and pleasant to look at. For me it’s ideal, the white backlight doesn’t hurt the eyes. I don't like colorful lights. The light and rain sensor are the same thing. I switched the light to auto and forgot about it altogether. It turns on itself, turns off on its own. When you turn off the car, everything turns off - convenient. Fan washer nozzles - finally! and also in body color. The buttons on the steering wheel are a great thing, I tried the cruise and I liked it, it has no price on the highway. The seats are comfortable, I won’t go into detail, everything is like in good foreign cars (lumbar support, microlift). The rear seats fold down literally in one motion; there is no need to remove the headrests. There is a LOT of space. And both in length and width. While I was walking around the showrooms and sat down in the fiesta, it’s kind of a bitch. You sit down in a down jacket and there is simply no room around... The stove works well - I was pleased with the huge number of fan speeds. The windows don't sweat. The heaters work well, and the back of the seat also warms. I was pleased with the heating of the windshield - no frost is scary. The only thing is that all the windows are switched to one button (windshield, rear, mirrors). I would do the windshield separately. The rear view camera and parking sensors work excellent. I will specifically focus on the robot. I consider the absence of a creeping mode in it to be a plus, because... You don’t need to keep your car on the brake at every traffic light (and there aren’t many mountains and slopes in Tyumen...), but I’ll probably write about it separately. I don't know what to say about the engine. On the Priora, this engine (it seems not the same, but in fact there are no fundamental differences...) has not let me down for five years. It starts in cold weather, didn’t break down, and always pleased with the fuel consumption. Something has been modernized here - I don’t know what. But the sound is not Prior's - more noble. I won’t say anything special about the dynamics, because... The car is being run in, and the whole of Tyumen is covered with snow. Time will show.
Continuation of the review - mileage 100 km. Nothing fell off and nothing rattled - for “fans” of AvtoVAZ. The attention to the car is wild. While driving, we even took pictures from another car))) People come up, ask questions, are interested, and ask to sit. They are surprised at how well the doors close - yes, I’m getting used to it myself, you don’t need to slam them - they close with a very noble sound. I'm used to the robot - the ride is more than comfortable. At a calm pace, you hardly feel the shifts. Consumption in the city is currently 10.2 l/100 km (Tyumen due to traffic jams). The bookmaker is complicated, but I figured out the basic functions. The glove compartment is mega spacious. A neat leather (or faux leather) folder goes with the car for documents for the car (service book, warranty card, manuals). Inside, in addition to documents, pens are a business card of a personal manager from Tolyatti. During the sale, he came up and congratulated me and said that you could contact me with any questions, complaints, etc. Nice) I picked up a set of rubber mats from the cabin (I couldn’t find them on the Internet at that time). They are in the corporate style (with X's). So far the price is 2400 rubles for a set, and 1900 for a trunk (I haven’t bought it yet). I think other manufacturers will start producing rugs and prices will fall. I tried the heating - it’s bad that there is no regulation, but I don’t really need it, I warmed up the fifth point and turned it off. I tried the anti-rollback system on a climb - THING! It holds the car for about two seconds - you can calmly put your foot on the gas and move off without rolling back. The washer reservoir is large - almost 4 liters fit. Akom battery (was on a Priora, didn’t let me down much, and was praised on the forum) with a capacity of 62 Ah. The starting current, if I'm not mistaken, is 600 A. The machine is not poorly adapted for northern conditions. And the engine oil, as I understand it, is more or less filled. Something like this... I’m very happy with the car, let’s see what happens next. Regarding the engine temperature: it warms up to 90 C and stays there clearly. On the Priora, it’s basically the same for me in the winter, but in the summer in traffic jams with Conder it reached 105. Summer and traffic jams will show whether a new radiator will help Vesta. Voltage: without light 14.0, with low beam 13.9 V, with heated windows (windshield, rear, mirrors) 13.8-13.9 V. All according to BC readings. In principle it's normal. On the Priora, in order to achieve this result, I changed the horseshoe of the generator and the launch vehicle. I did not notice any visible effect on the operation of the gearbox or engine - the speed does not fluctuate. Regarding the activation of the automatic door locking function when the speed increases above 7 km/h. In a nearby review on the forum, a person shared a link to activating a similar function for Renault. I did it and lo and behold, it worked! With the car running, I simply pressed and held the central locking button on the center panel for 5 seconds. But it didn’t work right away, but only after I turned off the car and started it again (I read later that you could just open and close the doors, but since I did it at random, I turned it off). With the car running, wait for the central locking button on the panel for 5 seconds, then turn off the car and start it again. And voila, we use this convenient function. By the way, someone wrote that in the event of an accident, not getting into the car would be nonsense. In the event of an accident, the doors will open themselves.
Reviews Lada Vesta SV Cross AMT
There are a large number of reviews of the AMT Lada Vesta SV Cross on the Internet. All reviews are different, but for the most part the robot on Vesta is a problem-free unit. Although there are also people who are less fortunate. Basically, they spread the main negativity on the Internet. I chose the first 3 reviews I came across about the Lada Vesta robot:
1. Alexander, Orsk
So, the robot is on the Lada Vesta Cross. I quite liked it. Anything is better than a stick. The most unusual thing for me was that you need to control the gear shift with the gas pedal. If you press the gas pedal harder, the speed switches to lower. For example, you are driving 40 km/h in 3rd gear and want to overtake someone, then you press the gas harder and the gear changes to second.
Switching to the next speed occurs by slightly releasing the gas pedal. For example, you press the pedal to the floor, the car takes off, the revolutions increase, for example, to 3.5 thousand, then you release the gas and the gear switches to second. Something like this. In general, this robot is quite a suitable topic. But you have to get used to switching so as not to get stuck on the road. In terms of reliability, I can’t say anything yet, since I’ve been driving the car for two months. During this time nothing broke.
2. Oleg, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Last year I bought a Vesta station wagon in Blues color. The AMT on Vesta Cross is definitely not the automatic that I owned before. Shifts aren't the smoothest. It switches jerkily, there is no talk of any smoothness. If you once drove a CVT and are thinking of switching to a robotic gearbox, then leave this idea. And if you have already bought it, then accept it. If the previous car had something mechanical, then you should like the robot. But it’s definitely not for traffic jams. You can drive on the highway, in the city without traffic jams - it’s easy. In terms of repairs and breakdowns, everything seems to be reliable. A friend of Priora has a robot. I've already skated 90 thousand on it - there are no breakdowns. Basically, the release bearing breaks, which seems to be no problem to change at any service center. The switching mechanism is German, made with high quality. Lasts a long time.
3. Alexander, Balakovo
The first impression of the robot on Vesta was incomprehensible. I had never driven an AMT before, only an automatic or a CVT. After the purchase, I got into the car, turned on the automatic transmission mode, released the brake, and the car stood still. I pressed the gas a little and it started moving. I drove around the city in automatic mode. At first, the box took 10-20 minutes to adjust to my driving style. I understand that it is adaptive. On the weekend I went to a dacha outside the city. When I got out on the track, I had to switch to manual mode, since the robot constantly turned on speed 5 already at 80 km/h. The auto shift mode is very smooth. Shifts are almost imperceptible. And the fuel consumption of the Lada Vesta Cross on a robot is slightly lower than on a manual one. In short, I am very pleased with the box and the car as a whole.
As you can see, I didn’t find any bad reviews about the AMT Lada Vesta Cross. Yes, of course, it is too early to talk about reliability. But AMT has already been tested by its predecessors - Priora, Granta and Kalina. There were no major damage to the box. Basically, AMT got all the sores and mechanical problems. And you can spit on the smoothness of switching, or you can forgive it. Just ask yourself the question: “Which foreign car has a robot that shifts gears smoothly?”
We also found an excellent video review of the Lada Vesta SV Cross AMT. We recommend watching it:
Gear ratio AMT Lada Vesta SV Cross
Everyone believes that the AMT on Vesta is similar to Grant, Kalina or Priora. This is not entirely true. We worked a little on the settings in the West robot. Yes, globally these boxes do not differ from each other, the only difference is in the gear ratio. For Vesta it is 3.9, and for the first trinity it is 3.7.
During the measurements, it was revealed that at a speed of 120 km/h the Vesta’s tachometer showed 3200 rpm, while the Granta, Kalina and Priora showed 3000 rpm.
A few important details
Around September 2020, the Lada Vesta 1.8 manual version is expected to be released. Reviews from owners of cars with a 1.6-liter engine indicate that this car will become even more vigorous and high-torque. But the appearance of an automatic transmission may change the situation somewhat. Even 1.6 has a very moderate appetite, and 1.8 with automatic transmission will consume at least 15 liters per hundred. Not every Vesta buyer will be ready for this. After all, now economical cars are still more valued, especially if you look at gasoline prices.
Modifications
The station wagon received two modifications - more modest and with bells and whistles. The latter is distinguished by increased ground clearance by 25 mm (203 versus 178 mm) and a more attractive appearance. The modest version looks quite nice, but the expensive one can be said to be simply chic.
The extended modification received body kits, and not just any kind, but made of high-quality plastic and with reliable brackets that will not fall off on Russian roads. The owners especially thank the manufacturer in their reviews of the Lada Vesta Cross station wagon for such a thoughtful and truly reliable solution.
Here you can also add quite decent 17-inch wheels and sensible caps that are firmly attached to the wheels. Car enthusiasts will have to splurge separately on casting and forging, but the existing option is more than suitable for more or less normal city roads and highways. Judging by the reviews of the owners of the Vesta Cross station wagon, most of them immediately replaced the standard wheels with noble ones, so it is quite difficult to give a real user or experienced assessment.
