Surface grinding

— The damaged surface must be treated with a coarse abrasive. To do this, take Indasa abrasive paper with a grain size of P120–P180 and begin sanding. This procedure can be carried out manually or using a grinding machine. During this stage, layers of old varnish and paint are removed, pockets of corrosion are removed, and the surface is leveled.

— After using abrasives, the surface of the wing must be thoroughly cleaned of dust. Then we treat the work area with Chamäleon degreaser. It will remove all unwanted substances from the coating, such as grease, silicone or Teflon. This will ensure optimal adhesion to the applied coatings, in addition, silicone craters will not appear during painting. Repairing damage

- In this case, you can’t do without putty. To do this, use a special spatula and universal ultra-light putty Chamäleon. It comes complete with a hardener and is ideal for filling cavities subject to heavy vibration. The putty is elastic and easy to sand, so no special skills are required to work with it.

— After the putty has dried, the surface is sanded using a coarse abrasive. Then you need to go over the coating with a softer abrasive with a grain size of P320–P500, paying special attention to the edges of the putty area. The surface must be perfectly flat and smooth both to the eye and to the touch.

Application of primer

Now you can start preparing the wing for painting. How to paint a wing correctly?

— First of all, the thoroughly sanded surface is treated with Chamäleon degreaser.

- Then you can start applying primer. Excellent results are obtained using standard Motip acrylic primer. It will prepare the surface for further coating with any type of paint and protect it from rust.

— It is necessary to apply 2-3 layers of primer, allowing each of them to dry for 30 minutes. The product should be sprayed from a distance of 25–30 cm to avoid smudges.

— After 2 hours, the primer will dry completely, after which the surface is sanded again using a soft abrasive P800. Now you can apply paint.

Applying varnish with a spray can

Varnish is applied to paints with a metallic effect. Can also be applied over regular paint to add extra shine and protection. It is applied 2-3 times. Before varnishing, the painted part must dry “stick-like”, that is, not stick when touched. The varnish in the can must be shaken for 1-3 minutes before painting. It is not advisable to spray it under the scorching sun. Otherwise you won't get a good shine. The varnish will dry within 24 hours at a temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius. At lower temperatures, the drying time will naturally increase.

You need to varnish at a longer distance. It is important that the torch is as wide as possible, but at the same time the varnish does not reach dry, but spreads normally over the surface, forming an even film. If you spray close, it will create streaks that will be noticeable once it dries.

If the painted surface has no defects, then it can be varnished after 10 minutes, without preliminary sanding. If the paint is to be varnished, it does not have to be glossy. The main thing is to apply it evenly. The final shine will be provided by varnish. If the painted coating turns out to have defects or inclusions of dust, then, after drying, it must be treated with p1000 sanding paper, then degreased and varnished.

Surface painting
