Engine oil for Lada Largus 16 valves

Recommendations for choosing engine oil for the LADA Largus engine

Lada Largus is a car jointly produced by the AvtoVAZ and Renault-Nissan concerns, which has several different modifications: Largus R90 - with 5 or 7 seats, F90 - a small cargo van and Cross in black and white. These cars operate on injection 8-valve and 16-valve internal combustion engines, which determines their power - 87 or 105 horsepower, and have environmentally friendly particulate filters and recovery catalysts. The fuel and lubricant is selected according to its characteristics. You can read about what kind of oil to fill into the Lada Largus engine in the documentation supplied with the car - for 16 valves and 8 valves the requirements will be slightly different.

Pavel Actually, this is Renault. Engine Renault K7M. Hence the conclusion - use synthetic motor oils ELF 5w40. They may have different names, for example, Exellium, but their essence is almost the same for such a simple motor.

Egor About the Loganovsky engine is absolutely correct, lei Elf 10-40, for the winter just in case 5-30, as the car book says that 10-40 to -15 degrees ambient. Didn’t they really give instructions from Largus??

What oil is better to pour into the 16 valve engine of Lada Largus

What kind of engine oil to pour into the Lada Largus engine 16 valves: choose only... 3 Which is better, SAE W30 or W40 - explanation in the video...

Specialists of the domestic automobile industry, in particular the AvtoVAZ concern, are trying to keep up with the times and keep up in the development and production of new modern models. The brightest representative of such movements is Lada Largus. This is a joint development of VAZ together with the giant Renault-Nissan.

What kind of engine oil was filled in from the factory?

When you buy a new car from Largus dealers, Elf Solaris Rnx 5w30 synthetic all-season engine oil is already poured inside it (for moderate climates with summer temperatures no more than +25 degrees and winter temperatures up to -30). After purchasing a car, fuel and lubricants can be changed immediately or wait until the mileage reaches 15 - 30 thousand km. It is not necessary to use the exact oil for the Lada Largus that was filled at the factory - pay attention to other brands recommended by the manufacturer.

Renault company recommendations

If you haven’t found Elf Solaris Rnx on sale or you’re not satisfied with the price, then choose one of those oils recommended by Renault to fill in your Lada Largus. These are brands such as:

  • Shell PC 1448 0W30, PC 1021 0W30 - low-viscosity all-season oils (may need to be replaced with a more viscous lubricant if you live in a hot climate) on a synthetic basis, recommended only for 8-valve engines;

  • ELF Solaris MSX 5W-30, ELF Excellium NF 5W-40, ELF Evolution SXR 5W40 – more viscous fuels and lubricants compared to the previous ones;

  • Lukoil Genesis RN 5W40 is a domestic oil of moderate viscosity.

Lubricant selection

Which

Does engine oil need to be poured into Lada Largus? It can be from different brands, but it must be strictly consistent with the manufacturer's specifications. The demands on the 16-valve K4M engine are as high as they can be. It is best to fill up with engine oil.

Until recently, during the first refueling, ELF SOLARIS RNX 5W30 was poured into the engine. Before that it was LUKOIL Genesis RN 5W40. The latest official information from the manufacturer says: ELF EXCELLIUM NF 5W40. As you can see, in the last two cases the oil characteristics are 5W40, which we should take as the basis for further operation.

It should be noted that oil

5W30 is less viscous than 5W40. Renault advises re-fueling the engine with 16 valve ELF EVOLUTION SXR 5W40. But in the 8-valve it is recommended to change the oil to 5W30. This is due to the fact that the more viscous 5W40 is better suited for hydraulic valve compensators. Therefore, no matter what kind of lubricant it is, it must have these characteristics.

Which oil to choose for a 16 valve engine

For 16-valve Lada Largus R40 and Lada Largus Cross, oils with the following characteristics are best suited:

  • 0w30, 0w40 - for winter or harsh northern climates, where 0 is the range of permissible temperatures for “cold” engine starting, at which the oil does not harden and lubricates the parts well (in this case, up to -35 degrees), and 30, 40 - this is an indicator of low viscosity;
  • 5w30, 5w40 - all-season fuels and lubricants for the temperate zone, where frost does not fall below -25 degrees;
  • 10w30, 10w40 – for warm southern climates, where the temperature is not lower than -20;
  • 15w30, 15w40 – summer option, for regions where the thermometer does not drop below -15.

These recommendations were compiled by AvtoVAZ experts without indicating brands and possible manufacturers. That is, we pour oil into the Lada Largus Cross and Lada Largus R40, where according to SAE the first digit is no less than 5 (for example, 5w30). 0W30 is not suitable for such cars

Motorists' choice

Sometimes motorists have a different approach to choosing engine oil for a Lada Largus car and, based on their experience, offer names that are not included in the list of recommendations:

  • Lukoil Luxe SN 5W40 – all-season synthetics;

  • Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 - unfortunately, in this case it is easy to buy counterfeit oil;

  • ELF Evolution 900 FT 0W30 – for the Largus R90 model;

  • Nissan Oil 5W40;

  • GM Dexos 2 5W30.

The oil should not be too viscous, otherwise it will harden in the engine, and for Largus this is fatal, since minimal gaps are left between the parts. Now a little about how much lubricant is required per fill. The crankcase holds 5 liters. It is necessary to fill it with fuel and lubricants until it is full, also changing the filter (the last condition is important for 16-valve engines).

At the same time, the car is driven into a garage with a pit, the engine is warmed up, then the ignition is turned off, the crankcase is opened and the used lubricant is drained. The new filter is impregnated with fresh fuel, the rest is poured into the internal combustion engine and the engine is turned on to check using the indicators whether there is enough fluid. It is not necessary to carry out all the manipulations yourself - you can trust the service station workers, especially since getting to the crankcase in the Lada Largus is not easy.

About what kind of oil to fill in Largus

Greetings to all largus guides who have visited my blog at this moment.

Today I’ll tell you what kind of engine oil is recommended to be poured into Largus and where it can be purchased at the lowest price in Yaroslavl.

Many people change the oil immediately after buying a new car, without waiting for the first maintenance. Someone is waiting for the car to travel 2000 km or 10,000 km or even 15,000 km. The service book for Largus states that the engine oil is changed after the first 30,000 km.

Personally, I am one of those drivers who prefer to change the oil in the first days after purchasing a car. He did the same with Largus. All subsequent replacements are made every 10,000 - 15,000 km.

How to change the lubricant

Lubricant replacement occurs in a certain sequence. How many lubricants to prepare for this are indicated above. Depending on the engine (8 or 16 valves), the appropriate viscosity is selected. In addition, you must purchase a new oil filter from Renault catalog 7700274177 or 8200768913. You must have the following information:

  • container for draining waste;
  • set of keys, filter remover;
  • rags and brush;
  • tetrahedron by 8.

Then the following steps are performed:

  1. The car is driven into an overpass or control pit (the engine warms up).
  2. The engine protection from the crankcase is removed using wrenches.
  3. The crankcase sump is cleaned of dirt and other deposits.
  4. The hood rises and a plug is opened, through which lubricant is then poured.
  5. The four-way cone is loosened (a couple of turns) using the drain plug.
  6. The container is inserted and the plug is completely unscrewed, the used lubricant is drained.
  7. It is necessary to check the condition of the gasket, which, together with the plug, closes the drain neck. If it is unsatisfactory, you will need to replace it.
  8. Some time after the waste.
  9. The filter is replaced using a puller. The rubber seal of the new filter is lubricated with oil and then rotates in place.
  10. New working fluid is poured through the filler neck. Ideally, about 4.8 liters should be administered, but no more. It is advisable to periodically check the probe level. After this, the neck is closed with a stopper.
  11. The engine starts and runs to disperse the lubricant through the system. When starting, the emergency oil pressure in the engine should go out. After warming up, you need to check the lubricant level again using a dipstick. It should be between the minimum and maximum.

What kind of oil was filled in the engine from the factory?

Both the 8 valve (K7M) and the 16 valve (K4M) at AvtoVAZ are filled with new synthetic oil ELF 5W-30 RN0700 . Salespeople at a car dealership will also recommend this oil to you. Classification according to ACEA A5/B5 – according to API SL/CF.

Judging by many surveys on websites dedicated to servicing Largus, many adhere to these recommendations.

But you can use other oil. The main thing is that it corresponds to the quality class and viscosity level specified in the instruction manual. ASEA oil class – A1, A2, A3 and A5; according to API – SL, SM and SN.

Leaders include Shell, Lukoil and Zic.

What oil to fill in the K7M or K4M Lada Largus engine

After purchasing a car, the new owner tries to find out what technical fluids are filled and how soon they should be replaced. The engine is the heart of the car, which is why the quality of the engine oil plays such a big role. Do you know which oil is best to put in Lada Largus?

First, let's figure out what kind of oil was filled in the engine from the factory :

The vehicle's owner's manual lists recommended lubricants . The engine lubrication system specifies: Engine oils with quality class API SL / API SM / API SN / ACEA A1/ ACEA A2/ ACEA A3/ ACEA A5 and SAE viscosity level: 15W40; 15W50 10W40; 5W30; 5W40; 5W50; 0W30; 0W40 (depending on climatic conditions).

determine the viscosity of engine oil using the following table:

Decide on the composition of the engine oil . For Lada Largus, which is intended for everyday driving, motor oils based on hydrocracking and hard hydrocracking are suitable. If the package says “semi-synthetic”, then most likely it is hard hydrocracking. If it’s just “synthetic”, then this is ordinary hydrocracking.

If the car is more like a sports car that races on a track, motor oils based on PAO or esters are suitable. Mineral oils should not be considered for this vehicle.

The voting below will help you finally decide on the choice of engine oil for the Lada Largus. Take part in our survey and discussions. For the VAZ engine, recommendations are in another article. Let us remind you that the website contains instructions for changing engine oil.

Features of an oil change in Largus

1. Square key for 8;

2. New oil filter for a gasoline engine (7700274177). Be careful, there are fakes;

3. Drain plug washer or pan gasket (110265505R). Under this article it is steel with a rubber insert in the center. It may be completely copper. Both types cost 30-35 rubles;

It will be useful: Why is the gearbox humming on a VAZ 2107

4. Container for draining. An old canister of oil or windshield washer fluid is handy. It's also helpful to find something like mosquito netting or old tulle to put over the canister. This way you won’t have to look for the drain plug;

5. Naturally motor oil and straight arms;

From my own experience, I can tell you that you don’t have to drive into a pit to drain the oil from the crankcase. On a flat surface, you can easily crawl under the front end to the drain plug.

The procedure for changing the oil is as follows:

1. On a hot engine, unscrew the drain plug and drain the used oil. It’s better to take your time and wait about 30 minutes. During this time, the engine will cool down and you won’t get burned when you unscrew the oil filter;

2. Unscrew the oil filter. You'll probably need a puller. I advise you to buy a “Crab” puller, they are available everywhere, but the cup puller needs to be selected according to the size of the filter;

3. You can slightly unscrew the engine filler cap;

4. Tighten the drain plug!

5. Install a new filter, having previously lubricated it with oil. Important: you don’t need to tighten too much, just hand effort is enough! If you tighten tightly, the next time the filter will be difficult to unscrew;

6. Fill in the required volume of new oil, periodically checking its level with a dipstick;

7. Start the car and let it run for 2 minutes;

8. Turn off the engine and check the oil level. Top up if necessary. If you overfill it, you need to carefully drain the excess through the drain plug. But only carefully! If you unscrew it too much, the plug may pop out and all the oil will naturally pour out. Or pump it out through the neck with a syringe and a tube from a dropper.

What volume of oil to fill in Largus

  • K7M (8 valve) – 3.3 liters
  • K4M (16 valve) – 4.8 liters

Mark the desired level on the canister, and as you approach it, check the oil level with a dipstick. This way you are less likely to overfill. The oil is not completely drained from the engine, and some of it remains. Therefore, do not be surprised if you use less oil than recommended. The main thing is that the level on the dipstick is between the “min” and “max” marks.

Another more fundamental question that interests many car owners is how much oil is in the engine? In contrast to the 8-valve unit, which requires 3.3 liters, the Lada Largus 16-valve unit fits 4.8 liters of lubricating water. So, if a car owner decides to change the oil on his own, then for the 16 valve K4M engine there is the option to safely take a 5 liter canister.

Let's look at the sequence and number of actions aimed at changing the engine oil in a Lada Largus engine with 16 valves:

  1. Let the car engine cool down.
  2. To carry out the following operations, access from below the vehicle is required.
  3. Unscrew the drain plug from the oil pan. In advance you need to substitute a 5 liter container. under the drain hole, and additionally remove the motor protection.
  4. When the oil is almost gone, of course, change the oil filter. Don’t forget that you need to lubricate the filter element in advance by pouring 150 grams of engine water into it.
  5. We tighten the drain plug, having previously replaced the o-ring.
  6. We unscrew the filler plug and begin to pour oil into the Largus engine.
  7. When the required volume is filled, it is worth warming up the engine for a couple of minutes. If the unit is turned off, it is worth checking the oil level in the engine using a dipstick. If necessary, add engine fluid to the required level.

The main type of modification of the unit today is chiptuning. This is a fairly common operation; there are a number of types. So, chip tuning may be aimed at increasing power or reducing fuel consumption.

On Lada Largus, soldering the chip should be trusted to experts, since carrying out the operation without the help of others leads to sudden and bad consequences. The procedure itself looks like a chip programmed to increase engine power is soldered into the electrical engine control unit. Later the ECU is flashed and the engine is ready for use.

Lada Largus: how much oil is poured into the engine

The domestic auto industry is trying to keep up with the times. For this purpose, new, modern car models have been developed and manufactured. One of them. Lada Largus, the production of which began at the Togliatti plant as a joint project of AvtoVAZ and the Renault-Nissan concern.

What kind of engine oil to fill in the Lada Largus 16 valve engine: choose only the best?

The VAZ plant has been producing station wagons of the Largus family since 2011. This model has always had two engines in its arsenal - 8 and 16 valves. In the second case, the requirements for the quality of fuels and lubricants will be as strict as possible. And when choosing the right oil, mistakes are usually made. It’s easier to choose oil for a Lada Largus for a 16-valve engine this way: we take what is poured at the factory. But there are other options that are discussed in the text.

Five liters - from the canister and into the engine. This is the only way (example in the video).

What kind of oil is poured into the mechanics at the factory (officials) in winter for the Lada Largus?

If the car is equipped with a manual transmission, then the question arises, what kind of oil is poured into the mechanics at the factory (officials) in winter for the Lada Largus? At the factory, the manufacturer fills in transmission oil ELF TPM 4501. The recommended replacement period is every 80-90,000 kilometers.

All information on choosing engine oil for Lada Largus

When the production of K4M motors was localized, the plant was first supplied with one material - SHELL PC 1448, 0W30. Then barrels with another material were noticed - LUKOIL Genesis RN 5W40. According to official information, the engine is filled with ELF SOLARIS RNX oil. The latter belongs to the 5W30 class.

The most expensive material for refilling K4M

By analyzing all the information, you can choose which oil to pour into the Lada Largus engine with 16 valves. Are there any other options:

  • Before localization, it was stated that K4M engines were filled with SHELL PC 1021 oil (viscosity was not specified);
  • Answer received from the support service: the first filling material for all Largus engines is ELF EXCELLIUM NF 5W40 oil. The date of receipt of the response is December 2, 2014.

So there are five different brands named here. And all this is the first refueling!

Renault company recommendations (motor oil regulations)

It's no secret that the Lada Largus is a redesigned Renault Logan station wagon. When buying a Renault car, everything looks simpler than with Largus:

  • From the factory, the K4M engine is filled with ELF Excellium LDX oil. Its viscosity is 5W40 (not 5W30);
  • ELF Evolution SXR with a viscosity of 5 would be recommended . 5W30 is for 8 valves.

oil with the index “ W30 ” will be less viscous than “ W40 ”. And for hydraulic compensators you need just the second one.

You can follow Reno's recommendations and everything will be fine.

The owners themselves are still arguing about what kind of oil to pour into the Lada Largus engine - 5W/30 or 5W/40. And if we talk about 16 valves, there is no consensus yet.

Subtotal

All options for “factory” refueling:

  • SHELL: brand PC 1448 (0W30), PC 1021 (presumably 0W30);
  • ELF: brand SOLARIS RNX (5W30), EXCELLIUM NF (5W40), EVOLUTION SXR (5W40);
  • Russian industry: LUKOIL GENESIS RN (5W40).

Renault company recommendations (for replacement): ELF EVOLUTION SXR (5W40).

What kind of oil does VAZ recommend for a 16-valve valve?

Let's see what they say in the instruction manual. Brands and marks are not named here.

Instructions for Lada Largus

Only viscosity classes are given, as well as quality classes and ash content (ACEA).

The choice is made based on the conditions: class “0W” is suitable for low temperatures, and “5W” is suitable for moderately low temperatures. The choice between “W30” and “W40” has already been discussed above.

The list does not include 0W50 viscosity grade. Materials that meet such high requirements simply do not exist. The quality classes indicated are standard, and the “best” of them is API SN. Well, the “ash content” should be “medium” - all ACEA class names begin with the letter A.

The choice of motorists themselves

The reader has probably already found out what kind of oil to pour into the Lada Largus engine. Six different options were named. There are other, “less standard” replacements:

  • Lukoil Lux Synthetic SN, 5W40;
  • SHELL Helix Ultra, 5W40 (many fakes);
  • ELF EVOLUTION 900 FT, 0W30;
  • TEXACO Havoline Energy, 5W30;
  • Nissan Oil, 5W40 (factory option for the Almera sedan);
  • GM Dexos 2, 5W30.

It will be useful: The main causes and methods of eliminating error p0100

By the way, the new name for the EVOLUTION SXR is EVOLUTION 900 SXR! Don't look for something that doesn't exist.

ELF EVOLUTION 900 SXR packaging

The question remains, what is the volume of the engine crankcase? Answer:

  • The crankcase is designed for 5 liters of oil;
  • Filling volume if the filter is not changed – 4.6 liters;
  • When replacing with a filter, add another 200-250 ml.

Now the reader knows how much oil to pour into the Lada Largus engine, whose 16 valves require as much as 5 liters of lubricant! The refueling volume will be less than 5. Read more about the engine models on the Lada Largus in the article: what engines are installed on the Lada Largus.

Motor oils for the Lada Largus engine

As practice shows, changing the oil for this car is one of the main problems that motorists face. It is well known that the quality of such consumables affects the operation of the entire machine. In particular, on elements of the power plant and chassis.

To determine its type, you should carefully study the service book that comes with the above-mentioned AvtoVAZ offer. It clearly states the necessary parameters that this oily mixture must have. This is necessary so that car owners immediately understand what kind of oil to pour into a Largus 16-valve car or any other car.

The most popular options, which are recommended by the manufacturer and are suitable in terms of temperature and viscosity parameters, are Shell 5W-40, Valvolin 5W-30, Gulf Formula G, 5W-40 and ZIC A+10W-40. These oil options are recommended for all types of Lada Largus engines.

If the motor oil used is not of high quality or does not meet the manufacturer’s instructions, then the resource component of the work is significantly reduced. An analogy can be drawn with a new car under warranty. After all, if you use low-quality oil, which causes the failure of power plant components, repairs at the service center are automatically excluded.

Signs of loss of characteristics:

  • the presence of deposits, sediment or metal dust;
  • color change;
  • excessive thinning or thickening.

Using such oil will not lead to anything good, so it is best to change it immediately before the low-quality fluid causes engine failure.

About choosing a filter

The oil filter on the K4M engine must be changed at every oil change. This requirement is more stringent than for 8 valves. On an 8-valve engine, the filter can be replaced “every other time,” although this is contrary to the regulations. But the 16-valve engine is not ready for such “difficulties”.

Articles

The Renault catalog contains two designations - 7700274177 and 8200768913. These are the article numbers for oil filters. But they differ - the first, “shorter” filter comes from the factory.

Filters 7700274177 (left) and 8200768913 (right)

Filter housing height:

  • 7700274177 – 49 mm;
  • 8200768913 – 53 mm;
  • 7700873603 – 55 mm.

You can try the third option at your own risk.

Lubricant selection

What kind of engine oil should I fill in Lada Largus? It can be from different brands, but must strictly comply with the manufacturer’s specifications. The requirements for the 16-valve K4M engine are as high as possible. It is better to fill in the engine oil that is used at the factory when the car was produced.

Until recently, during the first refueling, ELF SOLARIS RNX 5W30 was poured into the engine. Before this there was LUKOIL Genesis RN 5W40. The latest official information from the manufacturer states: the first filling is carried out with ELF EXCELLIUM NF 5W40 lubricant. As you can see, in both last cases the oil characteristics are 5W40, which is what needs to be taken as the basis for further operation.

Please note that 5W30 oil is less viscous than 5W40. Renault advises refilling a 16 valve engine with ELF EVOLUTION SXR 5W40. But for an 8-valve engine, a 5W30 oil change is recommended. This is due to the fact that the more viscous 5W40 is better suited to hydraulic valve compensators. Therefore, whatever the lubricant is, it must have such characteristics.

There is no consensus among car enthusiasts regarding 16-valve engines. AvtoVAZ also does not have a clear position on this issue.
