The oil icon on the dashboard is on

why did it catch fire and how to move on

Good afternoon, friends, Andrey Kulpanov is with you! We have already had a dialogue about when and how often it is necessary to update the oil in engines of various car brands. One of the indicators of this is the following fact - the oil pressure lamp lights up, and this can happen on both a cold and hot engine. In what cases this can happen, we will try to understand today’s topic.

The main reasons for the oil pressure warning light to come on

So, the warning light usually lights up after starting the engine or when it is idling. There may be several reasons for this phenomenon, but the main thing is to understand and accept for yourself that this should be a signal that there is some kind of malfunction. Therefore, you need to take appropriate measures so as not to worsen the situation. In any case, if the lamp blinks, it means that you need to identify the malfunction and do everything to eliminate it as soon as possible.

Among the main reasons for the indicator to light up are the following:

  • Reduced lubricant pressure in the system. This is one of the most common reasons, but even today there are owners who stubbornly do not notice signs of oil leakage or do not look into the engine compartment. Why does pressure drop, you ask? Because the oil gradually leaves the system. Therefore, you should pay attention to any stains on the engine or under the car where it is parked. Do not forget that by simply adding lubricant to the system, you do not solve the problem, but only forget about it for a while.
  • Another reason for the warning light to blink is due to the use of low-quality oil filters. Some of the lubricant remains in them even when you stop the engine. If the filter is of dubious quality, then it does not retain oil, but it directly flows into the crankcase. Thus, a periodic drop in pressure occurs.

  • Lack of lubrication may be associated with failure of the pressure relief valve. It should be in the closed position if the pressure level in the system is insufficient. However, when the valve fails or gets stuck, the pressure generated is not enough, which causes the warning light to light up.

  • Another reason is a faulty pressure sensor. It is directly related to the operation of the control indicator, since it is connected to it by the same wire. As soon as the pressure returns to normal, the contacts should open, as a result of which the indicator should go out. This will not happen if the sensor itself has become faulty.
  • The indicator also starts blinking if the oil pump screen is clogged. It acts as an obstacle to particles of dirt, metal, dust and any other unwanted elements that lead to wear on the pump. If the oil is not dirty, but of normal quality, then it freely penetrates through the mesh. When it is contaminated, the required pressure is not created in the system, which leads to the warning lamp coming on. Most often, this reason manifests itself on a cold engine, because as it warms up, the lubricant becomes more liquid and passes through the mesh much more easily.

  • The oil pump itself may also fail. It is this that creates an acceptable level of pressure in the entire system. If this does not happen, the sensor contacts close, which leads to the appearance of a signal indicator on the panel. Therefore, in this case, you will have to dismantle the oil pan and pump to eliminate the problem.

How does the oil sensor work and why can it fail?

Now let's consider the situation if you are on the road and the low pressure indicator has triggered. The very first thing you need to do is stop the vehicle and turn off the engine. As soon as it cools down, you will have to check the lubricant level in the system. There is a special dipstick under the hood for this purpose. It is wiped dry and immersed in its original place. It is quite possible that the level will be below the minimum level. This means that somewhere there is a leak or depressurization of connections. You can set off again only after adding oil to the engine. If the lamp continues to light after starting and does not go out subsequently, it makes sense to think about towing the car to the nearest service station or to a trusted auto mechanic. The matter may turn out to be quite serious, so it is advisable to conduct the examination in a calm environment.

Since we have already said that the causes of low pressure may be associated with a faulty sensor, it would be useful to understand the principle of operation of this device. There are certain contacts inside it. Until the ignition is turned on, there is no pressure in the system, so the contacts are closed. When you turn the key and turn on the ignition, but before the starter starts, the warning lamp should be on. If this does not happen, then there may be some kind of malfunction. Maybe the light bulb itself simply burned out, or maybe the contacts were broken or the sensor itself failed. As soon as we start the engine, the contacts open, leading to the light bulb going out.

How to check pressure

If it is not possible to contact a car service in the near future, you can try to find the cause yourself, and for this we need to find out how to check the oil pressure. A special device that measures the pressure in the system is designed for these purposes. It is sold ready-made or you can make it yourself based on any pressure gauge, a rubber hose with a fitting, the thread of which should be the same as that of the oil sensor.

First you need to unscrew the thread on the sensor, preparing for the fact that oil will immediately begin to flow. After this, a pressure gauge is inserted into the system and the engine is started. At the time of startup, a second person must watch the instrument readings. If the value is less than 0.5 kg/cm2, it is necessary to stop the engine.

About additives and properties of oils for increasing pressure in the system

Some car enthusiasts are interested in whether there is motor oil that increases the pressure in the system. Rather, we are talking about special additives that improve its characteristics. The main result from the use of such compounds (for example, SUPROTEC) can be called the restoration of the previous parameters of operating processes in the engine. The surfaces of working parts and mechanisms of the piston group, worn out by constant friction, are partially restored, and their oil-holding capacity increases. As a result, fuel combustion efficiency increases and engine compression improves. Many oils contain special additives that are aimed at reducing engine lubricant consumption.

This is where we will end today’s material. There are many interesting articles ahead of us in the field of engine maintenance and car maintenance in general. Therefore, subscribe to our updates to receive useful newsletters in the future. Bye!

Sincerely, blog author Andrey Kulpanov

Why the emergency oil pressure lamp is on at idle - significant reasons

Insufficient oil level and incorrect wiring are easily fixable problems. If the icon on the instrument panel is highlighted not due to a malfunction, you should “dig” in the direction of the sensor. Its diagnosis is much more difficult. However, it is not always worth carrying out - it all depends on the circumstances.

Blockage

So, if the oil pressure sensor lights up on a hot engine, you should first perform a simple procedure - clean it. To avoid an embarrassing situation, after unscrewing the touch controller, the mounting hole under it must be plugged with a handy device. An ordinary rag will do just fine for the role of the latter.

However, first the control mechanism must be found. By the way, there may even be two of them, as on the VolksWagen T4. Here they are located on the cylinder head and oil filter bracket. Yes, and on the Priora the oil pressure sensor is located on the cylinder head.

Filter element

The problem of a blinking or burning light may be hidden in the oil filter. It could become clogged as a result of untimely oil changes or significant wear of the engine internals. Another reason for its sudden blockage is failure to follow the rules that explain how to properly flush the internal combustion engine with your own hands. If the problem occurs after changing the lubricant, the oil filter may not be tightly screwed on or turned out to be counterfeit.

Sensor

If, after cleaning the sensor, the oiler blinks again, this is a reason to remove the DDM again and check it for proper functioning. It is worth noting that this testing option is relevant for electrical sensors that are equipped with modern engines. On old cars, say, the VAZ 2106, mechanical meters were installed. There is no point in checking them - there is nothing to compare the data taken in different modes with.

For your information. If the emergency pressure lamp lights up at idle for some time after changing the oil, this is not a reason to worry and tinker with the sensors. Fresh lubricant has not had time to pump through the system channels, so we don’t turn off the engine right away, but let it run for about 10-15 seconds - the indicator should go out.

Checking the sensor is carried out in stages - first with a tester and, if necessary, additionally using a foot/hand pump and a pressure gauge. Diagnostics with a multimeter is primitive:

  • Activate the device in resistance measurement mode.
  • Connect the contacts to the sensor ground and its positive terminal.
  • Take readings - should be 0.

Everything is fine - let's move on. Testing the control mechanism under pressure. We tighten the hose onto the sensor actuator and apply an air pressure of 1.5 bar. In this case, the tester is still connected to the outputs of the touch controller.

Important! A sign of a malfunction - when pressure is applied, the multimeter shows an infinitely high resistance.

Lubrication system test

The described procedures did not lead to the elimination of the sparkling oil pressure lamp - it is worth thinking about the condition of the oil system. Now comes the time for her serious diagnosis. You can’t do without additional equipment, but you can easily design it yourself. For this you will need:

  • Pressure gauge.
  • Adapter for installing the device into the threaded hole for mounting the sensor.
  • Tube of suitable diameter.

The diagnostic process consists of measuring oil pressure in various operating modes:

  1. Starter speed.
  2. Engine idling.
  3. Working speed.

The readings taken are compared with the passport data. If they are not available, you can consult with specialists who work with specific cars or on the forum. When it turns out that the sensor lights up on a hot engine due to low oil pressure, it is worth familiarizing yourself with a number of conclusions:

  • The oil filter mesh is clogged.
  • The oil pump is clogged or faulty.
  • The oil pump pressure relief valve is stuck (often happens in severe frosts).
  • The “liners” are worn out.

How does the oil pressure sensor work in a Lada Priora car?

Engine lubrication is the life of the engine. And the condition of the lubrication system is the driver’s main and immediate concern. That is why, during a daily inspection of the car, a caring Priora driver will definitely measure the lubricant level in the Priora engine with an oil dipstick. Well, while driving, an oil pressure warning light will help him. What makes it work? This is done by the oil pressure sensor installed on the engine. What it is and how it works, you should find out in more detail.

Why does the oil pressure light come on? Causes and main malfunctions

WHY DOES THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COME ON? REASONS AND MAIN FAULTS

an engine oil pressure indicator light on their dashboard.

.
We will also consider what to do if the above-described indicator appears on the
car’s instrument panel, as well as
the reasons
and
main malfunctions
due to which

red oil can
icon lights up .
In addition, we will find out in what cases the oil pressure sensor
may light up erroneously and how to accurately determine a particular failure of the engine unit in the event of a malfunction.

On the dashboard

Any vehicle has many
indicators
or
lights
, as they are popularly called, which indicate
a malfunction
,
a malfunction
of one or another
component
of the car.
Indicators
are divided by importance into
primary
(
red
) and
secondary
(
yellow
).
Our task today is to look at one of the most important light bulbs
on a car, which is called
oil pressure
.
When

red oil can
the dashboard , it signals an emergency
oil pressure
in
engine
.
When it appears, it becomes clear that the car has a clear sign of one or another malfunction and at the same time a high level of complexity, of paramount
importance.
Let's take a closer look at what to do when an engine oil pressure light
on
dashboard
and how to solve the problem or
malfunction
.
1. What does a non-extinguishing oil pressure light on a car’s dashboard mean?
When does the indicator light up on the instrument panel?

in the form
of a red oil can
, this first of all means that
the oil pressure in the engine
is insufficient.
In most cases, such a light
appears only for a couple of seconds and does not pose any threat to
the engine
and its main components.
As a rule, a light
in the form of a “
red oil can
” appears when you turn the ignition key and immediately disappears.
In addition, such an indicator
may
light up
when there is a strong roll of the car in a turn, as well as when
the engine is cold started
in winter.

When the indicator

in the form of a “
red oil can
”, you must initially check the presence and level
of engine oil
in
the engine
using
a dipstick
.
If the oil level
is below the minimum permissible value, then in this case such
an indicator
on
the instrument panel
in
red
.
This problem is quite simple to solve - you need to top up the engine oil
to
the optimal
level on
the dipstick
.
If the oil pressure indicator
goes out, then nothing bad has happened; we have eliminated the problem.
In this case, we just got off with a slight fright and just don’t forget to add engine oil to the engine
, and also check it from time to time using
a special dipstick
and level on it.
Let us remind you that the optimal indicator of the engine oil level
in
the engine crankcase
is the mark located in
the center of the dipstick
, between

Min
” and “
Max
marks .
In addition, if we ignore
the engine

oil level
red oil can

indicator instrument panel
, we risk serious problems with
the engine
and its components in the future.

Note that in some cases, a light
in the form of a “
red oil can
” may
light up
when the old
engine oil
to a new one, and then after the first
start of the engine
,
the indicator
appears for a few seconds and disappears.
If the engine oil
is of high quality and has been replaced correctly,
the indicator
should go out after an average
of 15 seconds
.
If the light does not go out
after this time, then the possible
reason
is poor quality
oil
,
oil filter
or
incorrect replacement
.
In this case, the engine oil
and
filter
must be replaced with new, higher quality ones.
In addition, the replacement
must be made in accordance with the regulations or technical documentation that comes with a particular car.
2. Oil pressure sensor.
Why does it not always accurately indicate problems? On a working engine

at
idle speed
at
750 - 950 rpm
,
oil pressure
should not exceed
0.5 technical atmospheres
per square centimeter.
Different car models are equipped with sensors
that measure
emergency oil pressure
with different response ranges, usually from
0.3 to 0.9 technical atmospheres
per square centimeter.
If a sensor
, which begins to operate at a value of
0.7 technical atmospheres
per square centimeter, then we note that even with an indicator of
0.6 technical atmospheres
per square centimeter, it will turn on
the oil pressure indicator
(
control lamp
) on the dashboard.
As we described above, this indicator
will
signal
that an emergency
drop in the oil pressure level
in
the engine
.

To be sure that
the engine

oil pressure sensor is to blame or not for
the indicator
on
dashboard
, you need to increase
the crankshaft speed
to
1050-1100 rpm
at
idle
.
If in this case the control light
goes out, then we can be sure that
the engine oil
in
the engine
is normal.
If, on the contrary, the indicator
lights up continuously in red, then you need to urgently go to a service station to
measure the oil pressure
with a special
gauge
.
This device is connected instead of the oil sensor
and
a control measurement
.

Note that in order to prevent
the oil pressure sensor
from triggering falsely, it is necessary to
clean

measuring
element and some
engine
output .
To do this, you need to unscrew the pressure sensor
and carefully
clean
all
the oil channels
, since the reason for
false positives
of this measurement element may lie precisely in
blockages
.

3. Reasons for the oil pressure warning light to come on. Possible faults

To be sure of the reasons

the engine oil pressure indicator
lights up , you must first remove
the oil dipstick
and
check
whether
the fluid level
higher than the previous check.
Next, you need to make sure
that
the oil dipstick smell fuel
or anything else foreign, since a situation may arise when

antifreeze
or
gasoline

penetrates the engine .
To determine the presence of gasoline
in
engine oil
, you need to remove
the engine dipstick
and place it in a clean container of water.
If gasoline stains
or
drops of coolant
, then you should urgently contact specialists at a service station, as serious
repairs of the engine
or its components may be required.
If there are no foreign drops
or
fuel stains
, then

this is not the cause of

In case of possible malfunctions with the engine
, which led to the appearance of

oil pressure

warning indicator , these problems are quite easy to notice.
As a rule, engine malfunctions
are accompanied by
increased fuel consumption
, a significant
loss of power
, and quite often

blue (
gray )
or black

begins to come out of the car’s exhaust system muffler .

In addition, we note that if the engine oil indicator

is normal
in
the engine the low pressure warning lamp

does not go out
for quite a long time , for example, when
starting
in cold weather.
Note the fact that when warming up
a car in winter weather at low temperatures outside, this is a completely normal effect, in contrast to summer weather and high temperatures.

Video review: “Engine oil pressure (red oil can). Causes and malfunctions"

In conclusion, we note that during a routine check of the engine oil level on the dipstick

, correct and timely
replacement of engine consumable parts

an indicator
in the form of a “
red oil can
light up on the dashboard .
In addition, you need to take into account the fact that after parking the vehicle overnight or for a long time, engine oil
flows from all channels into the lower
crankcase
and becomes thick.
The next time you start the engine,
the oil
pump
needs a certain amount of time to
pump up
the working fluid and fill the channels with the
engine
so that
optimal pressure
.
For example, engine oil

engine
elements such as
connecting rod journals
or
guide channels
earlier than the same
pressure level sensor
.
In this connection, rapid wear of the engine
and its
parts
in modern cars is completely excluded.
Note that there is no need to worry if the engine oil pressure warning light
on the dashboard
does not go out
within
3-5 seconds
.
This factor is not dangerous based on the technical documentation
of the manufacturer of a particular car.

Engine oil pressure light comes on - why?

The most common and important problem that causes the engine oil pressure to light up is a low level of lubricating fluid in the engine . Checking the level is very simple, but many car enthusiasts neglect this procedure and bring the engine to a critical state.

Failure to change the oil on time leads to terrible engine clogging, which is not so easy to get rid of. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for replacement frequency. Usually this is 10-15 thousand kilometers.

What other reasons could there be?

The sensor has failed. This is most often encountered by car owners who do not warm up the engine. Then the sensor begins to leak, produce incorrect readings and generate an error.

Watch what you put into your engine . All manufacturers prescribe what oil is needed for each engine. If these recommendations are neglected, you can fill in too thin or viscous oil, which will cause pressure surges and, as a result, the light bulb will light up.

Another common problem is antifreeze getting into the crankcase . This happens due to wear of the gasket between the head and the engine block itself. If the coolant drains quickly, but there are no drops under the car, immediately go to a service station.

Malfunctions of some parts can also cause an engine oil pressure fire.

First of all, this is the oil filter. If the filter is not original, there is a high probability that it does not have a special valve that prevents oil from flowing into the pan when the engine is turned off. In such cases, the engine experiences high loads, and it takes time to pump the fluid back.

The only solution is to replace the filter. But do this in a professional car service with a guarantee of quality. We recommend choosing one of the proposed car services in Moscow.

The pump is responsible for supplying oil, but it tends to clog and fail. Often this is what causes the sensor to light up.

More complicated cases

They are included in this category not because they are more difficult to eliminate, but because elimination will be more expensive or take longer.

Clogged oil pump

, or rather, its filter mesh is a very likely reason that the oil pressure sensor raised the alarm. Due to difficulties with the passage of oil through the filter, the pressure turns out to be insufficient - so the indicator lights up. To make sure that this element is to blame, you will have to dismantle the oil pan. The filter, in principle, can be cleaned. But replacing it will give the most reliable results (especially since most models are not that expensive).

The second option can be considered as a special case of the first. If you recently changed the filter (usually during a service), then the warning light may come on because it was found to be of poor quality. In the right case, a certain amount of oil remains in the filter even when the engine is not running. If it does not linger in it, the lubricating properties are not fully realized: the motorboat flows freely into the pan. The effect of oil starvation appears, as a result of which the engine comes to an inevitable and fairly quick end.

Both defects can be eliminated in the same way - by replacing the filter

. And if you suspect at least one of the reasons, you shouldn’t save.

Reasons for the oil pressure light to come on and how to eliminate them

Part of the instrument panel is occupied by light bulbs, indicating malfunctions of individual components of the car. The sensors transmit signals to the dashboard, and the corresponding light indication lights up. It is extremely important to notice this indication promptly and take appropriate action.

Reasons for the oil pressure light to come on

The oil pressure light is located on the dashboard. It may come on when starting the engine, idling, or while driving. The reasons for her tanning can be very different. First of all, it notifies the driver of a low oil level or warns of a sensor malfunction. In the latter case, the light is constantly on.

A lit oil pressure light may indicate a low engine oil level.

In addition, the pressure light can give signals about the following.

  1. About the failure of the pressure reducing valve. When the oil pressure is low it closes. However, the light also works in the event of a malfunction or jamming of the damper.
  2. About problems with the oil filter. After stopping the engine, the filter should contain the lubricant necessary for the next start. If the filter is empty, the light comes on.
  3. Oil pump malfunction. The pump is used to supply oil under pressure to the surfaces of the rubbing elements. When it fails, oil is not supplied to the system and the indicator goes off.
  4. About clogging of the engine mesh, which protects it from large particles of debris. If the oil is of poor quality, the mesh quickly becomes dirty. This causes the pressure in the system to decrease and the light comes on.
  5. About a decrease or loss of compression in the engine cylinders due to severe wear of the pistons. Oil consumption increases, the light comes on.
  6. About problems with the crankshaft.
  7. About closing contacts directly connected to the light bulb itself.

These are just a few of many possible situations. However, they all lead to a decrease in oil pressure in the engine crankcase, which is the direct cause of the light bulb. Therefore, it is recommended to periodically check the oil level and monitor the appearance of oil spots under the car when parked.

Video: reasons for the oil pressure light to come on

The light doesn't light up

Sometimes a different kind of problem may arise - the light does not light up when the oil pressure is initially low. It does not light up when you start the engine, although usually when you turn the ignition key it should first blink and then go out.

The light does not light up when the ignition is on

The reason why the indicator does not work when the ignition is turned on is often a short circuit in the electrical wiring. In this case, you should disconnect the wire from the oil pressure sensor (OPS) and short it to the car body.

If the oil pressure sensor is faulty, the light does not light up

Next, there are two possible options.

  1. If the indicator does not light up, the electrical wiring is faulty - the insulation is damaged, the wire is broken, etc.
  2. If the indicator lights up, the DDM is faulty. It should be replaced.

In addition, the light may not light up when the ignition is turned on in the cold season. The fact is that at lower temperatures the viscosity of the oil increases, that is, it becomes thicker. This is precisely what explains the incorrect operation of the oil pressure indicator in winter.

In winter, the engine oil becomes thicker

Trouble-shooting

A faulty oil pressure indicator system can lead to very serious consequences. Therefore, problems of this kind should be resolved immediately.

  • new wiring;
  • light bulb;
  • set of screwdrivers;
  • pressure gauge;
  • multimeter;
  • new oil pressure sensor.

In some cases, it will be necessary to replace the oil pressure sensor

The list of mandatory work includes replacing the light bulb in the instrument panel, checking the DDM, measuring the pressure and oil level in the system.

Replacing a light bulb

Often the light bulb itself is faulty. Its replacement on the dashboard of a VAZ 2109 car is carried out as follows.

  1. Using a screwdriver with a wide blade, the buttons for dimensions, low beam and emergency signals are removed from the dashboard. The connectors are disconnected from the buttons.
  2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the screws securing the instrument console trim.

  3. The car radio is pulled out and all connectors are disconnected from it.
  4. The metal latches around the perimeter of the visor are pressed out, and the visor is pulled out.
  5. The panel itself is bent or completely removed.
  6. The oil pressure light is replaced with a new one.

Diagnostics and replacement of the oil pressure sensor

The oil pressure sensor is usually located on the rear of the engine block. A more precise location can be found in the vehicle's operating manual. When diagnosing a DDM, it is first recommended to carry out an external inspection of it - check the integrity of the case and contacts. Then the connector is disconnected from it and, after cleaning, reconnected. Often this is enough for the sensor to work.

The DDM connector of some cars has a protective rubber cap, which expands due to heat during long-term use. Often this is what explains why a light bulb blinks and lights up for no reason.

A protective rubber cap on the sensor may cause it to not work correctly.

If you find such a cap, you should simply remove it and throw it away as a completely non-functional element.

The VAZ 2106 oil pressure sensor does not have a rubber cap

If traces of oil appear on the DDM, this indicates that the sensor is leaking oil and should be replaced immediately.

The functionality of the DDM can be checked by removing the wire from it and attaching it to the car body. If the light starts flashing and works normally, the sensor is faulty and must be replaced.

To check the functionality of the DDM, the wire is removed and connected to the car body

You can check the DDM using a multimeter. This is done as follows.

  1. The wire is removed from the sensor.
  2. A multimeter measures the resistance between the DDM contact and the motor surface.
  3. If the resistance is close to zero, the sensor is working. Otherwise, it must be replaced with a new one.

Such diagnostics can be carried out using a regular 12 V light bulb with wires. One wire is connected to the battery positive, the other to the DDM contact. If the light comes on, the sensor is working.

Replacing the sensor is extremely simple - remove the old DDM and install a new one. It is better to replace the faulty wiring entirely.

Oil pressure measurement

If the DMM is working properly, you should use a special pressure gauge to measure the oil pressure as follows.

  1. The engine starts and warms up to operating temperature.
  2. The engine stops.
  3. The DDM is removed, and a pressure gauge is connected in its place using an adapter.

Oil pressure is measured using a special pressure gauge

  4. The engine starts again. If the car is equipped with an automatic transmission, it is set to P or N mode.
  5. The pressure is measured and compared with the indicators regulated by the car's operating manual for idling.
  6. Pressure is measured at high speeds (up to 4–5 thousand rpm). The obtained values are again compared with those specified in the instructions.

Oil pressure indicators must match the values regulated by the manufacturer

For example, on a VAZ 2112 model car with a 16-valve engine, the idle pressure should be equal to two BAR. With the gas pedal pressed, at medium and high speeds - 4.5–6.5 BAR.

Low pressure is usually associated with low oil viscosity and antifreeze or fuel entering the engine crankcase. With increased pressure, the oil begins to turn into an emulsion, and antifreeze consumption increases. If the measurements showed a pressure value that does not correspond to the technical characteristics of the car, the DDM should be replaced.

What to do if the oil pressure light does not go out immediately

As mentioned above, the oil pressure burns for a long time when starting the engine due to the fact that the lubricating fluid leaves the filter element when the engine is idle. This is due to the quality of the oil filter, or more precisely, to the anti-drainage (non-return) valve. An oil filter consists not only of a housing and a filter element, it also has a special gasket called an anti-drainage valve, and its task is to retain oil inside the element.

During operation, or due to poor manufacturing, the check valve may fail. In essence, it is an ordinary rubber band that can crack, tear under pressure, or fly off. Replacing this rubber is not expected, and if the oil pressure burns for a long time, replacing the oil filter will be the solution to the problem.

Please note: The oil filter is often changed at the same time as the oil. If, after the first start of the engine, a problem immediately appears with the pressure lamp fading for a long time, the filter should be replaced. Most likely it was performed poorly, which is why the anti-drainage valve flew off or broke when oil passed through it. Operating such a filter is extremely dangerous for the engine.

Often the problem with the anti-drainage valve occurs on non-original filter elements of low quality. Sometimes it immediately fails to cope with the functions assigned to it, in other situations, after several thousand kilometers the rubber band “sticks”, which is why it stops coping with its tasks.

In order for a car engine to last as long as possible, it is necessary to lubricate it during operation, and even a few seconds without lubrication after the engine starts will significantly speed up the need for major repairs.

Some of us, those who may encounter such a problem - after starting the engine, when it is cold (say after night), the oil pressure lamp is on for a certain period of time. Maybe 3, 5, or even 10 seconds. Why does this happen, what are the reasons? Is this dangerous for the car and in particular for the engine and what should I do? Useful information, as well as a video version, read, watch...

What I want to say at the beginning is that guys, when the pressure lamp is on, it’s no longer good! After all, it cannot light up just like that, and must go out immediately after starting. That is, the engine started, the lamp went out and there shouldn’t be any 3 – 10 seconds! THIS IS ALREADY A DEVIATION FROM NORMAL OPERATION.
